BORIS Johnson has parachuted a multi-millionaire Tory donor into a top job at the BBC . Former banker, Richard Sharp, is to be the next chairman of the corporation. The 64-year-old - who used to be Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s boss at Goldman Sachs - will replace Sir David Clementi in the £160,000-a-year role.

Tell me strings were not pulled by the government to have Gary Lineker sacked or removed for his tweets.

Alan Sugar was not removed from his BBC show the apprentice when he tweeted that he would leave the UK if Jeremy Corbyn was elected.

    BBC doubled standards at play
Not really Sugar is not a BBC employee the Apprentice is made by a production company under licence from the US based franchise holder, Lineker is a BBC employee in fact the highest paid employee. Interesting that when he and his supporters boycotted Match of the Day, viewing figures increased.

But Lineker, who is technically a freelancer rather than a BBC employee, has not always bitten his tongue.

A former BBC executive has said there is “a lot of confusion” around whether freelance broadcasters such as Gary Lineker, who do not work in news, should be subject to the same rules as permanent staff.
Viewing figures went up, yes but if most were like me they gave it 5 minutes and turned it off. Did you watch it William?

The thing with Lineker is that he's a tosser for saying what he said. That is simply an opinion, which most are entitled to. If some people agree with what he said, no problem, to them he's probably not a tosser. But the truth remains, the UK is nothing like Nazi Germany in the 30s. Of course, that is just my opinion, there may be some that think it is, there may even be some that wish it was.

You're right about the former health secretary. Of course you mean Hunt, he decimated the NHS after the Labour party tried to polish it of before him, he just made a better job of it. Prime ministers lying through their teeth? I can't think of one that didn't, it's called bollotics.

Why is it Tories like yourself and others always bring up Tony Blair? funny how millions voted him in for 3 general elections.
We all know Thatcher only got re elected on the back of the Falklands War. She was told she would need to pull out a white rabbit out of the hat to stand a chance. Let's face it, it was never going to be hard to beat Labour under the mis guidance of Michael Foot.

Thatcher's first term as Prime Minister had not been an easy time.[2] Unemployment increased during the first three years of her premiership and the economy went through a recession. However, the British victory in the Falklands War led to a recovery of her personal popularity, and economic growth had begun to resume.

The Tories are absolutely bricking it now that the hard left are being purged from the Labour party. New Labour again? well we will see I suppose come 2024 is it when the next general election takes place.
Perhaps those in Scotland may rebel against the SNP and Labour will get a grip on Scotland again? To be honest I would be surprised if people in England give a toss about how Scotland or anywhere else in the other home nations voted for that matter.

All the goings on in Government pale into insignificance compared to his heinous crime -
and I for one, will never forgive nor forget - hence my "bringing his name up."
It's worth remembering that the Tories wholeheartedly supported the invasion.
When the vote came in parliament not a single Tory MP voted against the war; that was left to the SNP, Lib Dems and of course 1/4 of the Labour party who voted against their leader.

I'm sure many shall well remember how those politicians who opposed the war were pilloried in the national press - particularly by the Tory press - for not supporting the invasion.

    Short memories do abound.

Well Thomas I will let you get on with your evening. As Vernon has asked calm seas.
No more on this from me on this subject.
Great news from Manchester crown court today.
Thomas Cashman, 34, has been jailed for 42 years for the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel in Liverpool.
Very good Panarama programme tonight about drugs and gang wars in Liverpool.
