It makes sense to try and make the planet safer.

I used. To allow 5 minute shifts when closing the hatches. In Murmansk in winter when could be 40 below. And yet somehow those Russian women employed on street cleaning and various duties seemed to work as normal. A very hardy breed. Ballast water used to freeze up if left a free surface for any length of time. Easy to. See why both Napoleon and Hitler failed on their invasion of the country. Jack Frost should be Russia’s national saint. A. Good idea of the disappearance of sea ice would be the Hudson Bay , is Port Churchill ice free all the year round now ? Any smog reduction advances makes the planet safer, especially for those with chest and breathing complaints. Man has been walking the earth for brief seconds in time. Has made huge advances by our own estimates, but to alter climate change to suit himself is up to ones own belief in why and how we exist in the first place. We may think we understand the universe but these are man ideas which are theories at the best of times. We will never know. The proven facts both visually and in actuality was learned hundreds of years ago, the first advance was discovering the world was not flat. ( at least one mid eastern sect still considers it flat) I would think that the greatest danger the world faces is over population , where it will self destruct in times to come , aided and assisted by mans ignorance and general greed for a better and better living for himself. Probably by lack of oxygen as well. JWS

It is convenient for many to use weather patterns as 'climate change'

Climates are Topical, as in Far North Queensland, Sub Tropical as in Queensland,Temperate as in Victoria, Artic as at the South pole, that should not be confused with weather.

Some 20 years ago here in Victoria we were told that within 15 years there would be no more ski fields as global warming would wipe them out.

The last five years have seen some of the best snow falls on the ski fields for years, this year being the best in over 30 years.

With such it is little wonder so many ae skeptical about all the information put out about this matter.
By all means clean up the planet if you must, but do not attempt to put the frightners on the people over it.

In St. Petersburg the river Neva freezes every year from about October to Late March, at points this rive is almost a kilometer wide. This has been going on since cocky was in the egg and shows no evidence of slowing.
The situation is now one of who do you believe?

    i Rodney,
when I was in the Antarctic I was with a man from BAS , winter was just coming in, he said when I said it was so cold, eyeballs freezing Lungs freezing up etc, he just said it was 70 below.
so If he meant F , then it was around 56 C the figure didn't mean too much as COLD IS STILL COLD, as you have explained in Alaska.

I didn't have a disagreement with a walrus, it was a Bull Elephant Seal, he objected to me getting close to his harem of cows while taking a photo. so he chased me and I fell down a crevasse head first, that did save my life, he couldn't get at me, and snapped my collar bone , clavicle, and tore all my clavicular ligaments in the shoulders so I had to have an operation when I retuned home several weeks later.
    Cheers
    Brian

    Do not believe what Keith?

My comments are from facts here in Oz, not some political diatribe.

I was in the Big Island, Hawaii, last year,
The Volcanoes, Mauna Loa and Kīlauea were erupting and pouring super heated lava into the Pacific Ocean. A most incredible and unforgettable sight.
    The Ocean was Boiling,
Millions of cubic metres of lava filling up the ocean as it always has done for half a Billion Years.. ,displacing water and increasing the sea levels.
The HOT Water is carried by Ocean Currents around the Pacific,
The South Pacific is full of volcanic islands, Huge islands appear from the sea bed, and a few thousand years then sink under their own weight back to the bottom of the ocean, This displaces a lot of sea water.
I have been to Tuomotu several times, Once a huge Island 80 miles wide, now just a lagoon 80 miles across with a few motus above,
The water displacement must be incredible.
    Keith,
I have asked you to visit the Antarctic, On your way visit the Pacific and study what is going on with a natural event. Very educational. and very interesting,
When you have done that you can then understand what is really going on.

    11AM,
I have just watched on BBC TV Travel Show, in Norway in the sunshine of summer, they were building a stadium of ICE. The Lady who was showing it said it was 24c below zero, The Norwegians were making Ice musical instruments, and the Stadium just out of ICE. for the ICE MUSIC FESTIVAL. 24c below. No signs of global warming there.

My plans for holidays are sorted thanks and would not include your suggestion.
Off to France again next, where French people are nothing like what you put over.
Hence having better travel advice will do things my way.

As a factory engineer for a large factory for almost 30 years we have done an awful lot to conserve energy and to stop pouring noxious substances out into the atmosphere but when you consider overall and look at what the learning institutions have to say we need to conserve energy we need to reduce the use of fossil fuels and we need to stop pouring noxious gases into the atmosphere but also we need to stop telling lies about it because of the subsidies that are involved in any green energy or green Project and unfortunately the lovies who promote the Green approach tend to only tell part of the story that makes me very suspicious of anything they have to say

All this talk of holidays makes me long to be able to get away the unfortunate thing is dragging the wheelchair around makes it that much more difficult but in another post I have mentioned the Nautilus Welfare Fund and I believe that somewhere on Merseyside they have a respite place so I might even look at getting a couple of weeks up there if I can apparently it's very good and they have some nursing assistants which I would need
