I have just received a phone call on my house phone, B.T. If your computer is running please go and hold down the windows key and type in al two other letters that i couldn't understand this Nigerian blurt was saying, It appears sir you have a virus which is slowing your net down and i can clear it for you, { Alarm bells } put the phone down and rang B.T. No sir it was not us, You have done the right thing go to your phone dial 1572 and choose option 1, This will block them ringing you again i tried this and the number is unblock able, B.T. Said leave your phone of the hook all day and ignore it. They are getting very sophisticated these scammers if you receive a call from a Nigerian chappy today or any day put the phone right down. Terry they have started using an American voice now,it's a recordind which tells you your British Telecom is about tobe switched off to avoid this press 1.You get that message even though you dont have BT.

It sounds similar do a scan that happened here a couple of years ago where when you press 1 it puts you through to a premium rate line and within a few minutes you run up a bill of several hundred pounds .

I've been getting E mails purporting to be from BT telling me that they are changing the E mail system and that my E Mail system will fail to operate from various dates given. I am instructed to click on a link which would reinstall my E Mails into the new System. It is very well worded and with all the BT jargon and Logos and looks very convincing, I dam near fell for it. But I am a suspicious ****** so rang BT. Nothing to do with them I was told and asked to forward it to ' phishing@bt.com ' which is their fraud dept apparently which I promptly did. You certainly have to keep on top of these scams.

problem with that John is , my doctors , the occupational therapists , National Spinal Injuries centre , Havant borough council , all use "Private Number " each would be an important not to be missed call .

I nearly dropped a clanger last winter, if you remember all the cancelled operations at all the hospitals, well i was lucky at 3rd attempt, and several days after my op, had a call from an Indian type voice, ready to hang up, and it was the surgeon who had done the op, an Indian surgeon, just in time he said who he was and enquiring after my op how things were/ i suppose the surgeons were at loose ends because of no beds, so just made a phone call to his patients, most unusual, kt

Been going on here in Oz for years and still the feckers call but get the same short answer. Thought that they had refined their speil the other week. Got a phone call proporting to be from my internet providor concerning the NBN network and asked me my date of birth. Told them straight away and after about three days of giving the bugger the brush of decided to call my providor just out of curiosity. Seems that it was all above board and now I am on the NBN network with a new modem and faster internet speeds LOL. On reflection would do it again as unless I instigate the changes there is no way I will let some anus get information about anything concerning myself
