How much to believe?
Toady two pieces of info came to light here, one from the radio correspondent in UK, one from the net.
We saw on TV here last week the looney with a knife attacking the car in London, not good at all.
But we heard this morning that so far this year there have been 75 stabbed to death, several shot, some strangled and a drive by shooting in Harrow, I lived not far from there many moons ago, with a sub machine gun.
The murder toll so far is higher than for New York over the same period.
Mainly gang warfare over drugs he told us.
Then on the net.
After BREXIT there will be no food in the country after about ten days, no petrol, no medicines and a host of other items will not be available.
As a well known Yank once said,
'You cannot be serious'
Is this more scare talk by the remainers, or something from Face Book, and if so then of course it must be true.
I find most of this hard to comprehend, but is there any truth in it?

Re: How much to believe?
There is an increasing violence and knife crime across the UK an awful lot of it is gang related and targeted victims and therefore a lot of it is what the police called black on black crime you'll notice a lot of the victims are in their late teens and early 20s one of the senior police officers the other day were saying in a radio interview but stop and search without having justifiable reason to stop is probably the best way forward this was stopped by protests from minority groups who claim they are being victimised now they're being stabbed so what do you want stop and search or knife crime me stop and search I don't mind the policeman asking me where have been and padding my pockets down because I'm in normally innocent there's also been a reduction in the police presence on the street I would like to see it go back to a much harder face of the policeman and what people regard as the no crime crime such a possession of cannabis let's get serious about it let's wipe the drugs off the street let's wipe the Gangs of the street and the only way around it is to put more policeman on the street
The second half of the question really relates to the fact that if it's on Facebook half the people in the world seem to believe it's true we get posters here who will repeat what they've read on Facebook which is nine times out of ten fake news and conspiracy theory rubbish I would like to see it blocked and banned because all you're doing is spreading more rubbish and more junk around instead of checking the facts and one of the problems is with the fake news and the Facebook rumours is people see them enough and they actually start to believe them there is also a lot of political pushing and shoving from people who don't like the fact they're going to exit Europe I don't like it I voted against it but I accept the Democratic will of the people the remainers are spreading all kinds of nonsense which has been invariably proven along the way to be just that. me ban all the fake news

Re: How much to believe?
rob to many cultures let in this country to quick? killings are normal in lots of places around the world and some have dropped their hook here and we cant do a thing about it we cant deport criminals after sentence to much red tape the police cover up some crimes not having a go at the police they are in a no win situation orders from the top? its a case now of ordinary people telling the truth that are classed as racist if say anything? we all know mixing of some races is a no chance hate is being preached is common knowledge but because race crime does not exist to some forces? rapists can almost walk free from justice carrying guns is all part of the young's dress code can I carry a firearm to protect myself and family no but the bad guys can? jp

Re: How much to believe?
On BBC East Midlands today last week a local Labour MP was interviewed, regarding the rise in knife crimes.
He was lyrical about the causes, Police numbers being cut, lack of money etc. etc.
He went on and on spouting the party line, the interviewer cut him short in the end and sked him what he would do. His response was positive and honest and surprising, no more slap on the wrists, harder punishments for knife carriers and people who use knifes.

Re: How much to believe?
Thanks for the replies, much as I thought.
Fake news a la Face Book, what would they do without it?
As to respect, all gone no one has any for anyone any more.
Back in the 60' I once met with Reggie Cray, nice man if you acted normal.
The story was that they were only interested in gang warfare between gangs of the same, and their main activity was blagging banks, jewelers etc.
Not attacking people out side of their own world.
A man did commit an act against a pensioner on her own.
It was reported that Reggie found out and suddenly the mans body is found in the Thames.
Respect was there then, and we all grew up with it, at a time when a copper could give you a tickle behind the ear if you did wrong.
Bad courts with bad magistrates who think all persons can be rehabilitated is killing society.
We need to get back to the good old days when justice was exactly that.

Re: How much to believe?
As regards respect, what can you expect when 6 year old onward are learning that they cannot be punished for their behaviour at school, and in turn grow up believing they are above the law. That of course is a generalisation, not all kids are brought up that way, but a core of them in school are causing teachers to abandon the career, and seek work elsewhere, kt

#6 Don't blame the Magistrates' blame the system. Magistrates' are inducted into the judicial system before they can sit on the bench. During the period that they serve they are continually monitored to ensure that they behave in the correct manner.
#7 Respect has all but disappeared in some cases, you can't touch me has taken over.

Re: How much to believe?
As a mention of the Kray's was made earlier,
I add an apparent: if not interesting fact -
They were imprisoned in the Tower of London
Not after their 1968 arrest but way back in 1952. The twins were held at the tower for a few days due to failing to report for National Service. They were among the last prisoners ever to be held there.

We had the pleasure of their company here on the Island for many years in Parkhurst Prison, never saw them myself, but had many calls to the prisons, kt
