I read that restoration was £50,000 after a survey done over 10 years ago , someone was trying to drum up RN interest as it had been commissioned twice , don't know if it happened though

As I know very little about the old Gravesend Sea School Jim ,however as you mention it so that place must then be close to the School??

This was at the front of the school Vernon which was right on the Thames opposite Tilbury I believe.

Remember that well Jim, i,ve sweated and been sworn at by the instructors at those davits many times, then out into the Thames and rowing against the tide for hours. I remember the accommodation there was a death trap in the event of fire, 3 decks?, all with a large open decks through the centre of the floors. would love to say happy days, but not all days were happy. Did you ever do the door duty below McKellors rooms to let the shore crews in at night??,I have never been back to Gravesend since, but obviously passed it many times inbound and outbound when i shipped out of London kt
