Why?
...do so many posters [seem] to want to argue with others?
I get we all have differing opinions, myself included but it always seems to get personal between some. I dare not mention some of my opinions...
We all or most of us share that we have been or are seafarers, or relatives of... We're still a pretty elite group and should be proud of that.
There are only a 'few' regular posters here and although I don't think I've ever met, let alone sailed with any of them I feel that I know them and that they're my 'friends'.
Can we all agree to sometimes disagree and discuss things without getting personal?
As my wife (who I regularly disagree with!), says -Damn! I can't remember what I was going to write here! Will edit later!
Let's have a forum hug?!
Or a tot or two of rum?

Maybe...
But the other common denominator is the sea. More powerful than any of us...
I really dislike some people I have to work with, I won't say hate because there are only a few I could hate that I've met in 48 years, but at the end of the day I'd still fish their **** out if they went overboard.

I agree but it's the personal insults I think that need to be curbed. Just because I think you (not you personally!), are stupid in your opinion I should respond to the post and not the poster. Don't shoot the messenger?

Re: Why?
Well Shaun , you tried ,but as you can see even an appeal like this still brings out those who think they actually own and run the forum.
