Hi Dave.
There was shaking in the hillsides\ there was shaking in the Vales,\ but down there in Llanelly \ their hands were shaking holding ales,\ they still say there is a welcome\and with a love that never fails\ they say that try should have been given\ in Llanelly down in Wales .
No wonder you didn't feel anything you must have been all numb.

Re: Earthquake
I like your answer. As far as I remember the miners did not
vote to strike, but were ORDERED out by the NUM who were
hell bent on bringing down the Government. Is it true the Arthur
Scargill still lives in a house rent free owned by whats left of
the NUM and also has his car changed again paid for by the NUM.

Re: Earthquake
Right Dave,
there was no strike ballot. It was all Scargills left wing , commie, pinko Political Agenda.
He should have been gaoled for what he did. Men were killed just going to the Pit. Men were beaten up, their wives and children threatened with violence, homes trashed with windows smashed, their cars trashed.
It happened to my Brother. By RentaMob.
Maintenance teams were refused entry to the pits, Scargill knew what would happen if no maintenance.
Pits flooded, roofs caved in crushing millions of pounds of equipment. Pits became totally destroyed unable ever to work again.
He still lives in a NUM Mansion for a peppercorn rent and the use of an apartment in London, also a chaufered car for his use. still paid for from the contributions of the miners.
He is a gangster.
Harold Wilson also closed 211 coal mines, making thousands of miners redundant.
Also in the Callaghan Labour Government more mines were shut.
So all these working class "HEROES" were all phoneys and con men ripping off the very workers they should have been supporting,
and then Scargill finished the job for them. closing down the Industry, and people still believe in their doctrine and vote for them.
I despair for the sheep.

Maggie did Not close the mines, it was the left wing commies, Scargill who closed the mines. FACT.
Another fact, Wilson closed more mines than the last time....

In 1980 coal production peaked 150 million tonne per annum on a subsidy of £30.00 per tonne. That's around 4.5 Billion pounds. Lewis!!
You quote Germany why? The UK imports most of it's coal from Columbia, Russia & the USA....And Germany's subsidy ends this year!

Re: Earthquake
Harold Wilson signed the Lima Agreement in 1967, That was an agreement by the biggest industrial nations to spread the wealth to the Third World,
So Industries were closed down, and shipped overseas, Mines closed and coal imported from poorer countries like Poland and eastern Europe, etc. He closed down the Textiles Industry,
In Bolton, known as King Cotton, the biggest cotton spinning town in the world every mill was closed down and the machinery boxed up and shipped out to India , and other eastern countries, In Bolton, 20,000 cotton workers thrown on the scrap heap including my Dad and Mother.
Hundreds of Thousands of Textile workers on the scrap heap. Thousands of Miners on the scrap heap. and many many other industries closed dow and shipped to the east.
Mr Wilson was not a very nice man.

Wish she was here doing the Brexit negotiations Marian, would feel more confident of the terms she would achieve for the UK, we really need a strong leader right now. JFC
