Re: £1 Houses Britain's Cheapest Street.
Kieth, Missy night as you put it is the night before Halloween, October
The shift to October 30
Why and when it then moved to the night before Halloween remains a mystery, although it could have been influenced by our American friends who adopted October 30 as their Mischief Night - or Goosey Night, Cabbage Night, Gate Night and Devil’s Night, as it is alternatively known in various parts of the US and Canada.
What happens on Mischief Night
Smashing eggs, setting off fireworks, throwing toilet paper and smashing up pumpkins is seen as ‘coming of age’ fun, by some people, and a sheer nuisance by others.
And while most teenagers know when to stop, others take it too far. In the 1980s and 1990s there was widespread arson in Detroit and New Jersey.
Here in the UK, Mischief Night is generally only celebrated in the north of England these days, It originally was the 4th of November when Guy Fawkes Was said to up to his mischief plotting to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
