How will UK police manage if similar rules apply there?

Here in Oz rules have just been passed which will ban any firey or plod to wear a beard.

The reason, when wearing breathing apparatus, which they often have to do, the beard does not allow for an air tight fit.
Police now have to at times use Capsicum spray or other, and for same reason must be clean shaven.
