Extract from my post of Nov 16, 2016

    In a state of shock
"Election day came and, as I said I would, I held my nose and voted for Clinton. I went to bed at 11pm our time and at 6:30am I switched on the TV and damn near dropped dead. I'm still in a state of shock, but at last I can understand the utter dislike the Republicans held for Obama, because that is how I feel for Trump"...

I well understand your friends in the Democratic Party. I was equally disturbed, but Senator Sanders, Hillary's opponent, is way too left for me. I am left of center in US politics, which is further to the right than in UK and Oz, NZ, politics.

I am a registered as an Independent. Which means I hold no allegiance to either political party. I do not vote for a person, I vote for the platform a particular party puts together at the political conventions and I study which one benefits me, be it from changes to taxation, to medical coverage and other social issues to a party's future dealings pro or con with the world. My wife and I are comfortable fixed, both financially, and content with our lifestyle. Secondly I look at the effect of the respective platforms on my children and grandchildren and other loved ones, thirdly I consider those not as fortunate as me. All of the above are calculated into my decision. My wife is easy, she is a lifetime democrat.

For years I worked in Manhattan and commuted daily from nearby Connecticut. Donald Trump lived in Manhattan. He was/is a joke within the NY listening and viewing Tri-Sate area. He could not win one borough within New York city, or one of the three states surrounding Manhattan in the election. He got walloped! Hillary was the Senator of New York and New York voters thought she did a great job and had reelected her. I still did not care for her.

Thus I held my nose and like all those voters that were familiar with Donald Trump and his behavior, pushed the voting button for Hillary. I would say in closing that she couldn't be worse.

    Stan Carter #6.

In answer to your question on President Trump's family status:

The son: Other than milking his father's influence to generate new business; the financial cost to the US taxpayer is the cost of security. The President's immediate family, including spouses, who are closely protected where ever they go. This went for all past Presidents and will for future ones. Everywhere means just that, 24hours per day. President Trump has two sons, both involved with Trump enterprises worldwide and this aspect of costs becomes a necessary financial number.

The son-in-law. He is real estate developer, and one searching for an investor to take a position to alleviate a financial burden from investing heavily in a huge New York city building, six months before the real estate bubble burst, and he's stuck with mortgages greater than the worth of the building....He is an advisor to the President on world events. However, he made more the 400 errors on a three page declaration for top security clearance and "forgot" about two meetings he had with Russians, thus, they were not fully disclosed. He has to appear before Congressional hearings. So he has quietly moved (slunked?) into the background. For a while he was running around the world, so his costs are high.

The daughter kind of comes and goes, she to is an advisor too, who knows what her expenses are beyond travel.

As for the President replacing them...not a chance. His security is being surrounded by family and yes-people

I wonder who would have the guts to tell the President "He has no clothes on?"

    HI Rod.
A bit different out here, there was usually a stink if a politician got one of his family a job, used to be really exposed in the press; but lately it is being brushed under the carpet, there should be a new constitutional law to prevent it.

Macron became president of France Why???? well the people voted for him rather than vote for Marine Le Pen.
Who did the french want as president? Francois Fillon. He was running away with the campaign and was a shoe in , no one was anywhere near him.
Bang, suddenly a scandal about paying his wife an exorbitant salary, which at first he denied, ended his campaign.
Macrons popularity has plummeted since he became president. Not because Trump said about Macrons wife, that for an old bird she looks amazing!!!!
French labour laws , Macron wants to bring the labour laws into the 21st century, the french do not like change.

##it is quite common for the leaders after being voted in a few months later to lose popularity to some extent as the people realise the promises are just that...ie the bigger the promises the more discontent .....cappy

happy Cappy, ALL politicians promise things they cannot deliver, and people never query where the money comes from . I always remember when the expenses scandal broke, there was a shop that put a sign outside *no more than one politician at a time allowed inside *, pretty much said it all for me, kt

Cappy , Macron was being interviewed last night on tv here, the 3 doing the interviewing were really just asking loaded questions, I assume Macron had seen the questions he would be asked as his responses were quick and to the point.
The interviewers consisted of two men and a woman.
The female was a real looker and she was doing a fair amout of flirting. I reckon the old bird will need to be keeping an eye on monsieur le president.
It is almost compulsory for the french president and other politicians here to have a mistress, they even have a term for it.

The term cinq à sept (the hours between 5pm and 7pm) was coined to describe a visit by a gentleman to his mistress.

Trump it is said has a popularity level of only 36.

We can beat that here in Oz.
Our Pm sits at 34 and leader of the opposition at 31.

    Hope for trump yet.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
