In 1986 our the Pm Bob Hawke said,
'By 1990 no Australian child will be living in poverty'

Bull dust as we say here, the number grows all the time, but what constitutes poverty. There are many who are happy to live on the streets, that is poverty but they are happy with it.
What form of poverty, such as is brought about by those who would rather take the dole than work for a living, or the kids of parents who would spend the money on booze before the kids?

As to the voting, consider this. If all took your idea of voting not for the major parties but the people you like it could well be the parliament ends up with hundreds of independents.
The what, total anarchy and an unworkable system.

But I am off now to catch a plane, will see the results from TV in Sweden.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

the next few years will be hard for our country and right now we need a strong leader sorry but Mr corban does nothing for me to get us up and running he wants anyone who wants to come here they are welcome yes welcome if they produce to this country not as a soft touch we must think of here first and respect the tax payer mrs may did the right thing by staying away from the debate the others would demand that she showed her hand around the poker table of politics ?? jp

If that is the case cappy why has Mrs Mays lead been slashed to just 3 points.People had a good laugh at Corbyn because he didn't know his figures, instead of faffing around he should've just said I haven't got them to hand at the moment, end of.Having said that if Mrs May was asked what the cap is on health care going tobe she would not know,if she was asked who will qualify for heating allowance she would have to answer I don't know, seeing these two things are in her manifesto she should know. She does know but wont say what they are until after the election as what they are about to come out with will cost them more votes.People wont wait until then they will be of the opinion that it is going tobe a bad deal so wont take a chance on Mrs May.

well jim there is only one winner the polls matter not ....the country is to great to have a clown and a retinue of non descripts to run it ...the people recognise this.... only the lonely.... will be corbyns epitaph after the election as even his union and marxist owners will dump him into oblivion so quick his feet wont touch the ground......but no doubt the propaganda that got him were he is today will carry on until the truth is out and his blowhard supporters will disapear...even faster than bliars......when he was found out ........cappy

A few of the Tory faithful on here need to really take a look at what has happened to the landslide that was forecast and the strong message Mr May wants to send to the EU. Why will she not go head to head on TV debates. Amber Rudd has stood up and at least had the courage to appear, the poor woman has just lost her father this week but can still put in a shift, admire her for that.
Personally I think May is being gagged by her party as she has become a liability. Forecast next Tory leader will be Amber Rudd, forecast date 10th of June this will take place after Jeremy Corbyn wins on the 8th June , hung Parliament Mother England will be Governed by the Lab &SNP coalition government. Some will think I am having a laugh but that just maybe a reality. May has blown it.

Cappy if I put a point of view forward regarding Mr Corbyn does that make me a diehard as you call it.I know it is frowned upon on here if one dares to say anything against the Tories that is a big NO NO.
