Think it was the second ship into Singapore. They probably were dispensible and were sent in to get rid of the mines. Have just had the whizz kid in to fix the computer as thought it was doing funny things. However think the disappearance of the posts has nothing to do with him. If it starts singing hyems though will have to get him back. You must be all re-juvenated after your recent visit back to Sunny Shields, did you catch any fish on your bent pin. Cheers John S... PS she didn't render any services, said you had given her the day off. JS

    Gentlemen,
    I have looked into this.
The person who asked for the information was " CAROL PIETERSE" from Australia.
she asked for information concerning her family history that concerned ALAN MORTON,
it seems she obtained what she wanted, and all the information we supplied (including me)
she has deleted. There is nothing left. This is sad because that information could have
    helped someone else.

    Hello cappy
As Mike has said there are no Threads left nor any posts of that.
I don't know how she had managed to delete all those .but a possibility is that she had asked Brian to do it??
But I went into the Admin Panel and there is definitely no Posts or Threads of hers left!??
Strange yes indeed! And sad too!
Cany win them all I suppose! As far as I know threads can only be deleted by a Member for a very short while after Posting, then by Moderator or Admin ?? I stand corrected on this!
And I certainly did not touch anything there.
    Cheers

maybe her father in law found out and didn't want his privacy disturbed. If so I find that strange as reaching the age of 80 who cares anyway, and if someone else can gain any knowledge from this site all to the good. Mind if I was still working would not be so outspoken as would soon be out of a job. However the truth in theory should never hurt anyone. Being a bit morbid some of us may not be here next year at this time so is best to say what you have to say for posterity at least. With age comes the release of the shackles, when working I always worked for the Owners interests within the Law if possible, that in retirement doesn't stand anymore. Just some of the things I would never have come out with 1. being approached by one of the services for in effect espionage in Russia. 2. the recent post about the way a ship was loaded for an Ocean passage. 3. The conditions on a lot of vessels. 4. Companies codes of Practices.5 various people who I believe haven't bad mouthed but are all dead in any case. 6. The unseaworthiness of a couple of ships. 7. Being fired on in Saigon. 8. Interviewed by the CIA during the Cuban Crisis. There are other numeruous examples during a lifetime at sea occurences at sea and also ashore. At the time ones lips are sealed 40 to 50 and 60 years on the conditions and the world has changed. One just jumped to mind being taken ashore and getting a bollocking from a group of commissars in Shanghai which finished me getting drunk with them, always look on that one with amusement and affection. Nothing to be ashamed of just things it was more appropriate to remain silent at the time. Cheers JWS
