early in my happily married life i decided i would like a home for my children to come home to with a hot dinner and a mother there to greet them......my family were all to me ....when i ist started on my own businnes pat did the books and deliveries for a few years ...but a hot dinner was on the table for my children ....something my generation did not have ....by doing this for many years pat did not earn a state pension of any note ....as we prospered there was no need for her to work and by having dinners on the table and all that goes with that it was a good life we have fortunately aquired assets of which pat has 50 percent ....i take this bonus from the government as i have surely given it 20 fold in taxes in the past ....nice to get something back for a change .....regards capy

Re: Apple & paypal scams about
John F that device that can read a card, Best way to defeat that is make a folder out of silver foil to wrap your card this deflects the gadget they use from reading details on your card,or you can now buy a case for your cards that does the job.I use the silver foil one myself. The cons that drive me up the wall is the telephone ones i get them just about every day.All from overseas, you can tell by the time it takes them to start talking when you answer the call,I mentioned in a post a while back how i tried to con him into believing the police were monitoring my phone worst thing i ever did they stared calling me every day.I can tell its them as the A******* wrings the same time every day so i just ignore the call. Cheers.

Re: Apple & paypal scams about
I have a debit card for 'tap and go' with a normal credit card in two parts, one with bank the other with American Express.
All very good but getting to the point where my wallet will not close there are so many bloody cards of all sorts in there.

Re: Apple & paypal scams about
Charlie, we get these calls - silence, silence then a female voice "goodbye", Silence with kid's noises in the background and today M picked up the handset, there was a slight delay and a cultured Caucasian voice said "hallooo".
What we do now is when there is a brief delay after we say quietly "hello" we just hang up. We used to get an Ind**n male voice but I learned enough at sea to eloquently describe the various thing he did to his mother and his sisters and the various places I had seen them hanging out and what they were there for. That stopped the conversation but probably not the calls.
I tried to get Telstra to solve the problem but with all the technology available they really couldn't care less. We could change the phone number but that would no doubt only be a brief respite.
