I don't think the results were surprising to a lot of Americans. As I said in a previous post my sisters grandson which makes me I think his great uncle, is 14 years off age and told his grandmother that Trump was the next President of the U.S. This he would obviously have heard from his stepfather and was more than likely a reflection of what most thought in his circle of people. For retributions on the results is now pure hogwash. Anyhow is due here next week so no doubt they will be landing with Trump T-shirts and baseball hats on. The best of luck to them and their choice of an obvious winner. Trump should have as his slogan the same as the SAS "Who dares Wins". JWS

Right now I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Though I did hear a rumour he’s looking at buying the vacant block next to the White House, for a TrumpWorld amusement park. With a magic castle presided over by a Fairy Godmother called Hilary. Just so long as he doesn’t execute the Tooth Fairy. Not that I have too many teeth left anyway. As far as the Mexican border is concerned, maybe he could just relocate Wall Street

Time was that what happened in America happened to them. Today everyone has his say, we have exactly the same thing in our own countries politicians pontifacting, saying things that people want to believe, and if they are that way inclined they don't put too much thought in to what is possible and not possible. Look at Hitler how he could sway a crowd and at the end of the fighting none of them mysteriously were nazi"s. I wonder where they all went. I know if I was an American and had to vote, who it would be for, voting for anyone is a gamble, They are all Mr. or Mrs Pinocchio and just go to a good plastic surgeon to get a nose job, which the general public pay for. The leakage from the Panamanian Banks had a short life span all news items coming from there must have been stopped by homeland security or any Department which was there for such likelihoods happening. If I was a German I would be shouting at herr Chancellor that didn't receive the volkswagon Hitler promised every german citizen. You pays your money and you take your chances. Another couple of months it will be all history. Apart from the media trying to keep it alive. JS

My biggest worry about President elect Trump is his views on the environment. If anyone has any doubts about our effect on the worlds climate I suggest you watch Planet Earth ll , where the effect is clearly shown and today the U.K. is introducing new legislation regarding the use of "plastic balls" in cosmetics etc. These are minute balls of plastic in facial scrubs etc. that are not filtered out in sewage treatment plants, get discharged into the oceans and then enter the food chain. The amounts are staggering, millions of tons of the stuff.
Back to Trump, his statement that he is going to get the "rust belt" back to work by getting the steel works and coal mines working again together with his intention to disregard/repeal any of the recent world wide conventions on climate change, means that should these works re-open they will be using inefficient technology and burning sulphurous coal leading to massive increases in pollution.

#14, Out of the two candidates personally I think Trump was the right choice, apart from the environment concerns I think he
is wrong to want to disband NATO and also I think the opposition would be to great for him to succeed with this idea. I can't
believe anyone would be against the west having a better relationship with Russia "if that is possible", there are too many
Gung Ho politicians in the world today, without a thought for the consequences of how it could end, Planet Earth is a brilliant series and does bring it home to you what is happening to the world, it's a vicious circle, "in surviving we are also" destroying. JC

I see Mr Trump is going to pay himself $1.00 p.a. instead of the $400.000 salary that is the going rate for a President.Imagine any of our MP's working for nothing, they cant even keep their hands off anything that they think they can get away with regards expenses even down to pennies.

#16, That's another thing he's reneged on, he said he wouldn't take one dollar in pay for being president "what a liar"
Our Prime minister earns £143,462 per year, Wayne Rooney gets £300,000 per week plus perks with Adidas etc, "Crazy World"

One thing in his favour is,, he is not a career Politician. He has his own money, so doesn't need to sink as low as a Politician, to Lie to or steal from or defraud the Tax payers.
He doesn't have to make a name for himself to go down in history books as the man who went to war against other Nations, like Bliar, he has his own Monuments, Trump Towers etc,
So that is why he could get along with Putin of Russia, he looks at Russia as a place to do business with not war.

    Hi Johnf
he has to take one Dollar to make it Legal. The same over here, any kind of transaction must be paid for and £1 is the rate here. You can buy a Company or even a ship for £1
