Re: Maritime Border Security Exposed
Not even a gate guard to breathalize you. That's the only good thing shown on that video. I worked in and out of Sydney in the 90"s. We lay alongside where the passenger boats lie. I was out burning something off the deck one day and they were soon on board, one of the assistant harbour masters saying I didn't have a burning permit, however it turned out he knew people I knew in Seaforth Maritime as he had also worked for same, and got let off with a warning and no hefty fine. Maybe that's what they consider border protection is. They make me laugh when people avidly watch these TV programs and see some poor backpacker turned around on the next flight out for not having sufficient money to support himself. What about the other tens of thousands with the same problem already here. JWS

Marian
Our borders are open. Only have 2 patrol boats to cover the whole of the English channel.
Now they say that net migration is up because enough of us are not leaving the U.K. for sunnier climes!!!!!!!

The Government has just cancelled a contract valued at £4m with a company that supplies aerial drones. The drones were used to monitor the channel for any illegal activity.

The Albanians that sneak in how do they support themselves as they will not receive benefits many of them stay under the radar so they survive by crime. A TV documentary visited a prison and spoke with an Albanian,he was in gaol for pickpocketing,as soon as he gets out he will be back picking pockets he said and he can "earn" £2.000 a day,and we cant send him back to Albania when he is released.

Re: Maritime Border Security Exposed
If Froggy france cannot stop the illegal Invaders coming in from Calais we should tell them, we will Bomb Calais and get rid of the invaders that way if the Frogs cannot shift them
Our Pollies are too soft. They should put the FEAR into the Invaders that will stop them.
The daft thing is, If our patrol boats stop a small boat in the Channel with Invaders in they will take them into Dover, so mission accomplished, either sink them or take them back to froggy france.

Re: Maritime Border Security Exposed
I made this very point in another posting Brian, these people pull out from the N African coast, are detected by various naval boats patrolling there, and the taken to Italy. All they need to do is get a few miles off the coast, and put a mayday call out. Makes a dangerous crossing very easy, kt

Re: Maritime Border Security Exposed
I am of the opinion this is some sort of set up. There is a big push by the AMU to have ships on the coast manned by locals not overseas persons.
I go down to Port Melbourne abouit every ten days and it is nigh impossible to gain access to any ship without the correct idenitification. My neighbor works on the docks on the cranes and he tells me security is extremely tight.
Leaving from Sydney on last cruise we had to be interviewed as passengers by our Border Force, a specific section of immigration. On return our first port of call was Brisbane where all passengers and crew had to have a face to face inspection by Border Force. All crew entering Oz ports must have suitable identity and I am not sure what this bit is all about but to me it looks a bit sus!

Happy daze John in Oz.
