Keith, your figures are slightly out, we get £9b back, half of that goes to agriculture, social and Regional Development funds. The other £4.5b goes to Public Sector receipts.

I've seen some misquoted figures here re UK's contribution to the EU,
I think we should get it right.

Forget the billions ,as they really apply to annual amounts and confuse the figures
Let's stick to the WEEKLY figures.and use Millions.
We pay £350 MILLION every WEEK into the EU.
We get a rebate of £65 million.
The net amount we pay is £285 Million every WEEK.

We could certainly build a better NHS system for example with all that money.

Davey the way I look at it a few are propping up a lot of countries some would not p.ss on us if we were on fire. lets concentrate on our cutbacks we have put up with them far to long not just refuges coming we should give shelter to the down trodden but its us now that are down trodden sort them out first charity begins at home and this is our home not theirs? our kids pay hard earned taxes for some pencil neck to spend on crap in other lands that should stop .as soon as we come out I think we all know that this country will have a hard couple of years but will be a lot better of out of the eu club..just my view{and millions of others} jp

Totally agree with you John.I''m OUT,not just because of the Economy issue(I believe the issues will basically stay the same irrespective of whether we Stay or Exit)
but for the reason we need to regain our Sovereignty and control Immigration, and to do that we need to take control of our borders.

A continuing LBC (Leading Britains Conversation) Radio site poll over the last few months shows a consistent 70% OUT,30% IN .
I think it's going to be a much more closer result than that, possibly nearly 50/50 and I only hope it's going to be OUT.
I've never ever in my life felt myself to be European in any way.I'm British only;not European, not even feeling that we are part of Europe physically either.

Did not see the programme myself, but having said that, I do not need TV journalists telling me how the EU works. I discovered years ago how it worked and watched the gravy train getting longer and longer. If somebody would have asked me 30 years ago did I want to remain in the EU or wish to leave, the answer then would have been leave, so I think you can all work out that my vote on the 23rd June will be one massive LEAVE. The prospect of Turkey joining the EU is quite honestly a depressing thought. This is a country of 76 million. If only 10% decide that they want to come to Europe, that will mean that approx. 8 million Turks will disperse over the Continent. And this is a country by the way that has borders with Iraq and Afghanistan. I could end by saying God help us but somehow I think that will fall on deaf ears. Have a good night!!
    Regards
    John C

The question should be simply put to the general public and forget all the intriques of political parties and the question should be Do you want to be a satellite of Germany, for example after the last war Russia finished up with many satelites, If you want this, stay, if not leave. JWS

    HI John C.
From what I see on TV over here, there are tens of thousands coming across from Turkey who are not Syrians. They are Afghan's, Pakis, Yemeni's, even Indonesians and Thais . They say they will not let them in as they are not considered refugees; but so far I haven't heard of them being sent back. And now of course all the multitudes coming from Africa, none of whom I have heard of being sent back, Italy is poor so I can't see them keeping them.
If Britain votes to stay in look out for an influx that will swamp you and will not under the rules be able to stop.
    Cheers Des.
PS the PC brigade said that NZ would vote in a new flag they got that wrong.

I see that we have sent another RN vessel to patrol the North African coast, where the immigrants are now leaving for Italy. I fail to see the reason, other than to act as lifeboats, they intersept the boats that these people are using, and take them onboard, and then take them to Italy, in other words from the immigrants point of view, mission accomplished. Why they don't just pull away from the North African coast, and then put in a Mayday, the navies will pick them up, and they are then where they want to be. Surely we should be returning them back whence they came, which would stop the flow immediately, kt

Keith I think that we now need our RN in the English Channel that RIB that they rescued wasn't the first to try it it has been going on for some time.Did you see the other inflateable that had been abandoned on the beach, that had been used by people smugglers.I heard it mentioned that they are charging Albanians as much as £13.000 per head to bring them across the Channell,so buy an inflatable put 10 Albanians in it do one run you would be quids in enough to abandon your investment.

Think you are right Jim, thats only the start, our coasts are wide open. A yacht was caught in Chichester mariner recently with 20 illegals on board, the skipper was a wanted man for murder. These ribs are very fast, dead easy to whip them over from France at night, they have relatives waiting with transport for them. They would have made many runs already, should now go for their money, and confiscate , as well as jailed and deported, kt
