Next time an Indian says that to you, remind him of the railroads we built, the shiyards and drydocks constructed, the roads built, the coal mines opened, all from which they are now reaping the benefit as an independent nation, the training of their Armed Forces prior to and after independence, the Naval and Merchant ships given to them after independence, and one very important factor, without the British they would not be the largest tea exporters in the world, because the tea plant was not native to India, it was smuggled in from China by British merchant traders for which their was a death penalty in China for anyone caught smuggling tea plants. Re: Trump
Ivan, when you look at India andd what we organised out there, railways, postal system, police , military, judicial, the list goes on, and today we could not organise a party in a brewery. we were governers of about a sixth of the planet at that time, and now we are tied to bunch of european system that speaks 20 odd languages, does not work, is falling apart, and our politicians plead with us to stay. why can we not hold our own heads up and be proud again?, kt

Re: Trump
But why is everyone so afraid of Trump?
Is it because he says what many think but are afraid to say?
Is it because he says he will do the things that many want done?
Is putting some form of border control in place such a bad thing?
Or is it that the rest of the world leaders are scared that he will not fall in line with them?

Re: Trump
The first thing in Democracy is the right of free speech. One only has to go back to the McCarthy years to see how such claims were taken with tongue in cheek. JS

Re: Trump
Free speech is a corner stone of our democracy but there have been a number of politicians who have attempted to shut it down. The last Labor gov here in Oz under Rudd the dud attempted to reduce the amount of comments in the press about his gov. The press told it as it was and they did not like some of it.
