Re: refugees
Heard something on the radio today about UK and the EU. Has Cameron agreed to the referendum in June? I believe he is still in favor of staying in while som eof the Conservative MP's are not. Also heard that a concession for four years that EU citizens not UK citizens will not be allowed to access benifits. Is this true?

Just a rumour John, The Polish Government and other former Soviet Bloc countries now in the EEC are objecting to the four year rule, so that will never happen, no sign of a referendum date at this time.

Re: refugees
As I see it,if I am wrong I stand tobe corrected. The benefits in question are family allowance and working tax credits so it is the migrants who are working in the main who are having the benefit cap imposed on them.It will only affect new entries and not those already here so what the saving will be I don't know as I think that they are all already here.It does not mention those unemployed people who are claiming rent and council tax and all the other benefits that go with it.I'm sure Vic will know the full story here.

Re: refugees
I see on the BBC news this morning that Germany is returning some migrants back to Hungary as they have no papers etc, so where has this big free Europe with no borders gone, suddenly we are split into individual countries again. It seems that gradually its beginning to dawn on them that no borders is a disaster, and the whole system led by one dominant country, the bloody Germans, Kt

Jim, my understanding, that is all benefits for four years, if haven't contributed you get nowt. Also he is trying to stop child benefits being claimed and paid for kids living abroad. ie Father is from Poland works in the UK, has three kids back home, UK pays child benefits to his partner.
To me his negotiations are waste of time, weak position he has adopted, wrong tactics employed, he should be more assertive.
Regard
Vic

Re: refugees
Even some of his MPs are not happy with his stance and came out with the remark " is that it", so if he is not assertive enough, it could be good news for a lot on this site, including me, and gets some balls and get out of a duff set up. But watch the old carrot that will be dragged up to scare the population, Ie jobs, they will threaten mass unemployment if we come out, kt

Re: refugees
Mrs Merkel is to return hundreds of thousands of refugees to Hungary and Croatia,it will be very interesting to see what happens at the borders of these two countries when these refugees arrive,do you think they will be allowed in ? I don't.Mrs Merkel has reinstated the Dublin Regulation, why didn't we think of that to get rid of all these murderers and rapist that we are stuck with and cant get rid of because of their human right.
