Turkey Downs Russian Warplane.
Turkey say they have been warning the Russians about violating their air space.I know we have been flying alongside the Russian aircraft just outside of our airspace I wonder what our pilots orders are if they were to stray into our space, would they be like the Turks and shoot it down.
Regards.

Re: Turkey Downs Russian Warplane.
Just watched the news, it said the plane crashed in Syria and one pilot killed and one pilot captured by Rebels. His future will not be too good.
So couldn't have been too far into Turkey`s space.
Big Problem, Turkey is in NATO, If one member of Nato is attacked then the others must join in, So if Russia retaliates then we have a BIG Problem.

Its exactly this type of accident that will cause the big kick off. the whole middle east is a hornets nest, and Cameron has hinted that Turkey could be a member of the EU, can no one read where this would lead, kt

Perhaps Putin with his indignation should be reminded that at least its not a passenger plane with 300 innocent people on board, KT

Re: Turkey Downs Russian Warplane.
There are a couple of glaring facts amid all the hullaballoo re the downing of the Russian aircraft, which both sides will be aware of. 1. The war being fought from the air by so many countries involved will of by now unless we have the usual slapdash way off doing things, every warplane in the skies will be emitting a radio signal giving its nationality etc. this will be a continuous recognition signal when in areas of combat. 2. The Turks will have been in no doubt it was a Russian aircraft. 3. The Russians have professed to go after all rebel groups, and as they apparently had a target area in mind where groups of rebels associated to Turkey were situated. 4. As soon as they fired they go running to NATO so obviously expect recriminations. 5. This warning off 10 times in 5 minutes means zilch, this would of been probably an automatic signal and a burst of static. The most probable answer from the Russians may be to completely flatten the area and make it barren for a lot of years to come, the area where the plane was brought down. I wouldn't mind betting theres not many Turkomen in that area as will all be back over the border in Turkey. Its no good everyone now sitting back and taken sides, Russia will take such action as it thinks necessary, JS

Re: Turkey Downs Russian Warplane.
Hi John.
The Turks are trying to eliminate the Kurd's up near their border so I think the Russians might have been warning them off, either way Turkey is not that big a country and as most of the people caught by the French came through Turkey the French would support Russia in this.
Cheers des

Re: Turkey Downs Russian Warplane.
The History books in a hundred years time, if then allowed to print such, will give the truth as far as it can be ascertained, re political and commercial money will allow, and if written by a neutral author. The way a lot of people are now thinking it is too late to go back and try alternative projects, such as keeping ones nose out of other countries sovereigntys and way of life. The only thing I condone as a legal or as legal can be assumed is when the US went into Afghanastan after Bin Lid and after they had endured an attack by same in New York. They should of left Afghanastan after being unsuccessful, the other option and staying, they should have stayed in a permanent position, and withdrew far too early leaving a country in a mess and ripe for every tom dick and harry with any political ambitions. No matter who gets power in these countries it is not up to us to change. All attempts that have been carried out in the past re political change with a chosen western approved leader has been a disaster. Once again the problems re Europe have been caused by themselves in dropping all their border crossings in the mistaken belief once again we live in a pure world. For so called intelligent people who have all the intelligence services at their disposal it makes one wonder why they still insist on travelling the road to purgatory. JS
