Re: Indian Prime Minister For UK.
On the other side of the coin. For thirty years I had Indian ethnics staff who were loyal, hard working and whose religion, if any, did not enter the equation. From 1959 during the height of the oil workers strike riots in Fiji when my accountant Jamnadas Chatrabhuj took me from our office through the Indian shopping alleys out of Suva centre to safety. To Haridas, who was my accountant in Singapore from January 1968 to 1972 and then came to me when I returned to Singapore from 1979 to 1986 with another company. Vijay Lal, my Fiji office chief clerk is a regular Skype friend who now lives in New Zealand. We went to his wedding in Suva and he now has grandchildren.
Late last Thursday night I had a medical problem that put me into hospital for a couple of days. A very efficient, inteligent Indian nurse was trying to look after and old codger in the next bed to me and he started to bad mouth and racially insult the nurse; trying to give him his medication, something terrible. The nurse tried to placate the patient. I yelled out at him and gave him a piece of my mind. He came back at me but he picked on the wrong bloke in me. As she walked out she looked over at me, smiled and shook her head.
A little later she went to look after him and the same thing happened. By this time I really saw red. I yelled out, "shut up!! You have no right to cowardly insult that good woman, etc, etc." He mumbled and said to the patient opposite "I've rattled his balls". I bounced back with "I'll rattle yours you b*****d". He was as quiet as a mouse after that and spoke nicely to the nurses.
When I was on my way out to go home later that morning I went up to the nurse and told her, "You're a nice lady, I am delighted you are here."
To me, they are different but far from the problem.

Re: Indian Prime Minister For UK.
There is nothing wrong with nationality Richard, we all have no choice or say in that. The problem is Religion, and has been many times through history and that includes most. However a good question should be when is religion not a religion, and the so called one causing world problems at the moment, should be treated when it is misused like a rabid animal and quarantined, should be outlawed as illegal as breaks the civil laws of many countrys, murder rape and child molestation being three of the top criminal acts just for starters. People say religion is a persons right, it is not their right to use as an excuse for the acts being performed in its name. JS

Re: Indian Prime Minister For UK.
It will not directly effect me, but if a different person is to be in Number 10 then a Hidi is far better choice than a slimoos. Most of Indian descent are hard workers and have never posed a threat to UK, and no doubt would be maybe 3rd or 4th generation.

Re: Indian Prime Minister For UK.
I wholeheartedly concur John S. As for our country, and I expect many others too, exempt religious institutions from certain tax commitments. Many are also established and thrive on this avoidance. I am not sure on their value added tax on purchases on goods and services but I am strongly opposed to tax concessions to any religious organisations.

#7.... If my crown jewels were worth that Brian, they can have them for half the going rate. Will then wait for medical science to catch up and transplant some new and better ones that work properly. Cheers John S

Hi John
My crown jewels are worth more than that, I am trying to hang onto them as long as possible.

Re: Indian Prime Minister For UK.
An Indian descent PM, but in maybe half a century from now the question may be who is who? So many different nationalities in UK now no one will know here they originated from. Not our problem but for grand children and others going forward hew will have to deal with it. The same in time will occur here in Oz, multiculturalism is OK on paper but in reality very rarely works, so many new arrivals will g where similar live and never fully intergrate with the rest of the community
