Re: English and Proud.
He's probably putting in a request for you to be silenced by a "THUNDER BOLT" Brian.
The church is very politically minded mostly they are on the left, I wonder how many of todays churchmen would lay down their life for their belief as did the Martyrs throughout history. I very much doubt if Justin Welby Archbishop of Canterbury would swap his thermals and wear a Hair shirt as did Thomas Becket also Archbishop of Canterbury, who died for his beliefs. Sally's Army are far more genuine, and do a lot more good for people, the church is all about looking after themselves. John F.

Re: English and Proud.
Or like some church men here in Oz who spend half their life trying to get gambling removed. Bit like King Canute if you ask me.

Re: English and Proud.
Hi Fred.
As a child I was brought up, never to boast of who I was, as this
was a form of vanity, over something that I had no control over.
I was always told to take special pride in my actions,in the way
I looked and especially in my personal achievements.

Re: English and Proud.
It appears the best thing to do is shut the F up ?
All the stuff posted in this English and Proud section may be the death of us all.
Stop talking about it, give it a rest, it is not healthy apparently.
Not often that I tell anyone to shut the F up, but thinking this rant may save a lot of lives ?

OSBOURNE'S KEY EU DEMANDS.
George Osbourne is to set out five of the UK's key economic demands in it's renegotiation with the European Union. Why bother with stuff like this before a referendum, the comments at the end of the article certainly give the views of the people to get out.

Re: English and Proud.
An article today here tells that the Greens are now a major force in EU! Last I heard of them was back in the 90's when they had control of Germany and almost sent it bankrupt. What are they like now, here in Oz most think they are from the looney left.

Re: English and Proud.
Think most people vote for them as a defiance vote against the other two main parties. Same as the senators of the motor car party and big Clives party. Most people in Oz don't think too much of pollies and just want to get on with their lives without too much interference. An ideal situation would be to have none. But like kids at school there was always at least one who wanted to run things and then when they couldn't do it by themselves formed gangs. These were probably good examples of politicians or erstwhile bullies in their younger days. JS

Yes John, but we have gone back to the French style of the 60's, revolving door prime ministers.

Re: English and Proud.
#148 Over here we call it a protest vote, and some of those who put themselves forward for election make no bones about who they are for instance "Screaming Lord Sutch" (now deceased) leader of the Raving Monster Loony Party, with his party what you saw was what you got. I put the Green Party in the same category as the Loony Party, as I think they are seriously deluded people, but they are in earnest, and in my mind they couldn't organize a booze up in a brewery. "So be careful what you vote for" JC.
