Default Any good Maths Guys here

Can you perhaps tell me the following.
In the Pic I have a Circle of 140 Meters in Circumference ,there is a Red dot in the Centre!

How far in Meters will it be from one point of the Circumference to the Red dot please!
This is not a Quiz it is a question that I don't know how to calculate@!
    Cheers

Divide the circumference by Pi (3.1416.....), that will tell you the diameter = 44.56..... then divide that by 2 to give you the radius = 22.28..... Therefore from the "Red Dot" center in a straight line to the circumference is near enough to 22 metres 280 millimetres. If you have been drinking it would be a lot further! Cheers Alan.

    Many thanks Alan
I was good at Maths at school but we never went that far in Std 6
    Cheers

Now not disputing any of your workings Alan but would it male a difference if that was the Raduis at all!
    140 Meters

I only ask as that Distance somehow doesn't seem right to me! (22.280 meters)

I am trying to work out how far away a new Residence will be from our House, and that 22 odd Meters seems rather close!??
    Thanks again!

Think I have it now thanks Alan!
From the centre to the outer(Radius) is 140 so its times 2 for the through distance which is 240 Meters.
So the new Residence will be that 140 Meters from our House!
    Thanks anyway appreciated!

    Doc
Circumference {c}=2piR where pi=3.142, r=radius {diameter} of circle . therefore 1/2 r is distance from center of circle to circumference.
Even easier way and does not require brain nor calculator.
Google Maps will give you the straight line distance if you know the 2 postcodes, google street view will give you the driving distance and let you see what's en route.

Have you got the circumference right. 140 metres seems small, perhaps it was meant to be 1140 metres?

2 Pi R squared is Circumference of a circle and I am going back nearly 70 years so may be wrong. Transposing the formula for the R =Radius, is then R squared (Radius) = Circ. upon 2 pi = Radius squared. Don't take my word for it. AuAlan has already worked it out anyway. Just seen. Pi approx. is 3.1713 recurring. JS Looking back at John Artons post I am probably wrong and maybe the area of a circle I was thinking of. If its of any use to you though if I remember correctly the 3 angles of a Celestial Triangle can equal between 180 degrees and 540 degrees work that one out, all useless knowledge all these things now done on computer. No JS
Thank that's about correct,so it will be about an eighth (approx.) of a Kilometre from our place which is far away enough!
    Cheers

If it topples over one stormy night then it should come down clear of you, that's a big consolation prize. Cheers JS
