For those anti royalists who gain some sort of perverse pleasure about complaining about their so called wealth. Every person or country has if normal, something or somebody to look up to or admire, I would be the last one to knuckle the forehead as Louis seems to think one has to do. The armed forces should respect their generals and admirals or whatever and they do so by saluting, they are saluting the uniform and not the man. This is not considered submissive if they do, if they don't want to salute then they shouldn't be there protecting their country, they take an oath of allegiance not to some pompous ass of a politician but to the head of the state which is on paper the Monarchy. When saluting the Union Flag you are saluting Britain past and present. All those lost merchant seamen in the last war the same as all the lost other souls were told they were fighting for King and Country, when in real fact they were put in the situation they were in by some political dim wit hiding in the shadows. Britain should be proud of its heritage both past and present, and not trying to pull it to pieces by pulling the Monarchy apart. Money is only bits of paper and if the truth was known was invented by the original bankers, and only represents what assets one has, to me the monarchy is one of the biggest assets Britain is ever likely to have, and should as always be a rallying point for the country, especially whilst those in Europe also are trying to do away with. There are many around the globe who give generously for the benefit of others, people such as Bill Gates, but there are many others we never hear of. But without the wealth these persons have created there would be no employment. Politicians such as Blair served the politics of envy which caused so much concern and hardship for so many. Then here are ones like the guy here in Oz who in the 1950s began with one truck ad now has one of the biggest trucking operations n the nation. He employs thousands but also gives to those in genuine need. The world needs more men such as this.

Being a pensioner like most on this site, I or my wife gives approx. 400 dollars a year to a couple of Charities. We can ill afford as I also give away about a 1000 dollars a year to others. People who give do not preach about it. The only one I preach to is the wife to make sure and get a receipt so I can claim back as a tax rebate. Should imagine those who give millions also do the same, the only thing different is they get a knighthood for their benevolence. My epitaph is of like Cappy of being a good husband and father which I wasn't so will have to be Grog, Grog, and more Grog with the occasional drunken bawl. Instead of wine women and song. JS

I found this quite an interesting story regarding the Patagonian toothfish and the albatross two of the things that concerned Charles.

For some strange reason known only to yourself Cappy you appear to obsessed with unions. This thread began with royalty and my observation that Charlie could finance a hospital. No other person contributing to the debate has mentioned unions as they have nothing to do with the subject in question.
No matter what the subject of a persons post is you continue to bring it around to your own prejudices.
