Re: Prince Charles Private Letters
The CEO before this guy was on top brass there were two bad rail crashes on his watch with many people killed he wouldn't resign although Tony Blair (and I think John Prescott) wanted him to so to restore faith in the railways by the public. On that kind of money being the top man he should've packed his bags and got off.I wish the strike kicked off in the morning it would keep thousands of people out of Liverpool for the three Queens.(joking of course)

The most reliable train service in the country is here on the Isle of Wight , that is fact !!. For anyone who has not travelled on this line, its an eye opener. All the stock is ex London Underground, pretty ricketty and shakey, and consists of a single line and about 6 stations, so their statistics for time keeping always puts them top of the league, and no, they are not going on strike. kt
Re: Prince Charles Private Letters
Who owns it Keith and who looks after the line.?

Re: Prince Charles Private Letters
Thats right Jim, run by Island line, totally independant, and deal with their own line. I made the point as a joke really, because when the holiday makers board the train, you can see the bewilderment on their faces, and at some point along the way the train jumps about a bit, and their bewilderment turns to fear. If ever you get to this neck of the woods, give it a go, its better than the fairground KT

Re: Prince Charles Private Letters
The Clyde steamer TS "Queen Mary" was built at Denny's Yard in 1933 and when the giant Cunarder job no "534" being built at John Brown's Yard in Clydebank was ready for launching in 1934, the owners of the steamer agreed to add the Roman numeral "II" to its name so that the Cunarder could be christened "Queen Mary". In doing this, the steamer retained a Regal name and became the "Queen Mary ii". Going on holiday during the late 40's and early 50's my mother always made sure we boarded the "Queen Mary ii" at Glasgow as she didn't like sailing on the PS "Waverly" to Rothesay.
Best news I've heard for a long time is that the old steamer is going to be towed from her berth at Tilbury to Glasgow to be more or less rebuilt in order to make her seaworthy again. Who knows, there might come a time when the original "Queen Mary" can take Pride of Place which she deserves, if the four Queens ever visit Liverpool again.
FOURO.
Re: Prince Charles Private Letters
Re number 55. The last sentence should have ended- if the four Queens ever visit Liverpool in the future.
Making such mistakes are the true signs of getting old.

Re: Prince Charles Private Letters
Hi All.
Last night on TV here was the story of Diana's demise and the on going stoush. Helen Mirran's depiction of the Queen was brilliant. As this post is about Prince Charles, I think he was very badly treated by his mother from the start, I think he had concern for they way in which Blair was steering the country, hence the snide posting of his letters, Blair came across {and I believe it] as a crawling git, I have always been a Labour man in so far as I can't vote for a right wing Govt, but I think that had I been living in the UK I might have been tempted.
Quite honestly if Charles and Diana had stayed together and got to the throne, it would have made for an interesting era.
Cheers Des
