How considerate.
How considerate of the present Speaker of the House of Commons , John Bercow, to consider the welfare and wellbeing of all the present and past Members of Parliament by having all the paperwork relating to their expences accounts prior to 2010 be shredded. The reason given was that no one would any longer be able to trawl through them looking for offences either real or imaginary ,made by the Members and Right Honourable Members of the House. When my wife and I were self employed we were told by HMRC that all our records relating to payments of either cash or in kind made to employees had to be retained for a period of ten years with a threat of prosecution if not complied with.

Re: How considerate.
We have a small budget dilema here in Oz. The last Labor gov developed a $ 149 billion deficit in 6 years after taking over a $20 Billion suprplus. As a result there is not enough in the kitty to give the armed forces any more than a 1.5% increase for the next three years.
It has been sugested that all politicians give up their next pay increase to improve th eoffer to the armed forces.
It is reported that when suggested most polis went into shock saying that it would not be constitutional to do that.

Happy daze John in Oz.
