    Default old hands

havnt been on line for a few days ....had my grandchildren up to canny shields ....but have been to an old seamans funeral today peter marsh .....a former president of the harrogate branch of the vindicatrix association......peter was 93 and served many years at sea he was torpedoed in the atlantic ....and also got a medal for saving the lifeof a shipmate on the thistlegorm which was lost in the red sea and is now a great area for diving enthusiasts.....he was a true gentleman ....and many were at his funeral.....there were five members of the branch ....now closed......and many of his friends...it was very much an merchant navy funeral and i was honoured to take the merchant flag from the coffin after the service we were asked to wear our vindi blazers and vindi badge ....the ex standard bearer was in attendanceand the five ex members all looked very smart.....another proper seaman over the bar ....a sad daythe numbers now dwindle rapidly .......but the ones gone are not forgotten regards cappy

It looks as if he went with dignity and good friends to see him off. No one can ask for more.
