Whatever chaiacking goes on between the Aussies and Kiwis there is a bond, especially when things get rough.

Now Rob, here in Ozwe celebrate a number of days on the day they fall, Australia day January 26th, Anzac day april 25th and Remembrance day November 11th. But of coures if one happens to fall on a Saturday or Sunday then we get an extra day off. Not called the land of the long weekend for nothing. we also get a day for queens birthday in June. But this goes back to the days of that lovely lady Queen Victoria after whom we have a market in Melbourne named.
But with UCL of course there was a Queens day every day if I recall.

Yesterday marked 92 years since the first Poppy Day was held in New Zealand in remembrance of fallen soldiers and to support returned soldiers in need along with their families.

In New Zealand, it is usually held on the Friday before ANZAC Day. However, it was moved to April 17 this year because it conflicted with Good Friday.

Return of the old counties? Traditional names such as Middlesex and Cumberland could return after ban on displaying them on street signs is lifted:

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles announced plan for St George's Day

Claims it will make it easier for England to celebrate its rich heritage

May also erect stand-alone signs highlighting ancient borders
