    Default across the pond

So its pancake day today, the day when we stuff our face with loads of fatty pancakes filled with honey chocolate and syrup or as it's known in America, Tuesday.

I got ripped of with this as a kid because mum would serve up pancakes laced with lemon juice and a sprinkling of sugar. Did not know about all those other goodies that they now put on them. Mind you they where bloody lovely but only got a couple then wait until next year for another serve.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

Les, we were the same, lemon and sugar, then sometimes with Lyles Golden Syrup, makes my mouth water just thinking of them.
although the Canadians do not celebrate like the Brits, my wife is making them for me today.

thin pancakes, lemon and sugar, thats how i remember them as a young fart. took a while to get used to the thick fluffy one's with maple syrup, but you adapt when you cant get the originals. as a point of interest if anyone is up on this sort of tip bit, the 2014 maple syrup harvest is in doubt at present, as it to cold for the syrup to run. need cold nights and warm sunny days to jump start the run. although they have plenty of reserves from last year's harvest.
    regards, stan

What a waste of perfectly good pancakes, putting all that in them!

We never got pancakes as a kid.there was a war on and eggs were rationed to one per week, per person, perhaps.
I made them for my kids. enjoyed tossing them in the air and sometimes missing.
I enjoyed them with lemon and sugar on
but my favourite is a Roll with a little honey.
