Round and round it goes

In the world of today nothing is for ever, mariage is now done on a day to day basis when you dump one for another if she suits better. Nothing is repaired, all is replaced electrical goods are now recycled, as are bottles, paper, food cans, beer cans in fact there is very little now that is not recycled or renewed in some other state.
But on my recent cruise I began to realise things have gone too far.

The toilet roll said 'Recycled paper".


My sick mind went into overdrive, how do they do that? I imagine a little man with a long pole and net on the end collecting all the used paper as it reaches the sewage farm, washes it dries it and makes new toilet rolls with it.


Oh I must start taking those pills again before I go mad.

Naw!! me thinks they are just referring to normal Rycycled stuff! haha!

Are we sure though Doc? Remember that terrible paper that was in small sheets dulled out of a dispenser one by one & shiny-slippery on one side? Man that was the PITS!
Which stopped first, bog paper being old newspapers or the wrapping of fish & chips in them (:

Richard #3, Izal was the make. As a seven year old I could never understand the attraction of using this on the derriere.
My Aunt offered a choice of both soft & tissue in her loo, as her husband was ex RN I presumed it was a Navy thing.

They were still wrapping fish & chips in newspaper up here in the early 1980's.

Hi shipmates, in the old days we had more choice on toilet paper, greaseproof or newsprint one did not work ,the other you caught up on the news before use... Today we dont know we are born, luxury toilet paper is now common in every shop and supermarket,They dont use newspaper to wrap chips anymore... whats next?

Don't know the exact figure but much of the paper we use in our daily life is recycled (printer paper, newspapers etc.) At Manisty on the Manchester ship canal there is a paper recycling plant were the old coal berth is. Coal is still shipped in but goes straight into rail wagons which take it to Fiddlers ferry power station.
The stink from the paper recycling plant is pretty awful and at night the lights from it used to blind us as we came round the bend just up from Manisty wharf.
There was always I conveyor belt spewing out a brown/grey substance and I was told that this was the by-product of all the ink that had been bleached off the paper and it was an excellent source of garden fertiliser as it was loaded with nitrates from the bleaching process.

John you can get a lot more out of your toilet roll by using both sides.

If that waste as you say is a good source of fertilizer, would that mean in the future we could be writing letters with a carrot?
