Surreal TV
Last night watched Gary Barlow entertaining the troops in Afghanistan. One thing stuck more than anything else, was the young army chap giving his all, when the song finished he turned around and the camera caught him with a machine gun strapped to his back.
We don't know the conditions that they live under in these camps.

Re: Surreal TV
I hope they get well paid for their service ,not like it was in the other wars korea and Vietnam when it was conscripts who did their compulsory service on very little pay .these so called wars in Iraq and afganistan are useless wars and will produce nothing . will we learn nothing from history . most of the middle east uprisings are promoted by the west to protect Isreal

I don't think so Neville, the current middle east wars was at George Bush junior behest wanting to finish what his father didn't.

Re: Surreal TV
In my humble opinion Isreal is the most democratic state in the middle east. It is not the most perfect, it does many things wrong, but in general it looks after its population.
Palestine, is corrupt, salting its payments from the EU in to various leaders bank accounts, such as Arafat.

#5 Agree with Vic. There is at least one country which has declared publicly that its aim is to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, and are trying to carry out Hitlers Final Solution. Israel knows to survive it must respond with force and as the past has shown will not hesitate to do so. Israel shows more patriotic backbone than most western countries ever have and is a nation which has to look for friends wherever it can find them. John S
