Interfering again
Interfering in the affairs of others has in many cases become almost commonplace.
Between the do good brigade and those who want to change the world it is sometimes hard to know what to expect next.
I am fully aware of the effect on the UK of the EU regulations and how stupid some have become, now here in Australia we are getting a sample of what you have had for many years.
The issue of parental control and the administration of suitable punishment for children has long been an issue causing much concern. Is it correct to punish the offending child by administering some form of physical punishment, that is, is it in order to smack a child? Many say yes, whilst there are a number who say no as it only encourages the child to become violent in later life.
Today the UN has issued a directive to Australia that the smacking of children must now cease, any one now found guilty of such an offence should be reported to the authorities and face a term of imprisonment!
What right does the UN have to impose such a demand?
Sadly we now live in a world where control of each and every movement we make is now subject to scrutiny by one body or another.
Big brother is alive and well.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Interfering again
John when Cappy and me were at Eton we quite often used to beat our fags. This was considered bringing out our leadership skills and getting used to the sight of blood. Ask any member of the House of Lords where he acquired his manliness. He will confirm there is nothing wrong with a good thrashing as long as It is behind closed doors. Seriously though I see nothing wrong with a form of physical punishment as long as it doesn't descend into brutality. Regards John Sabourn

Re: Interfering again
For the first couple of days after joining any new ship I was Master on I would wear my Capt. Jack Sparrow tee shirt with the legend "the beatings will continue until moral improves" on it. That coupled with my skull and cross bones desk flag seemed to do the trick as I never had any crew problems.
