Ray-c,
Very good point, there must be quite a number of ex or serving mechant seamen amoungst them, but how to attract them is another matter as they must want to join of their own free will.

Re: Members and Guest
Its on all Forums, Can we not put a flag up, asking them to join,
pointing out, the advantage of being a member. These guys are taking
advantage, of an open site, witch is free, unless they want to pay a small
fee every now and then, how many pics have they down loaded from the gallery,
I'm out of order here, but I'm not a free loader.

Other sites
Myself, I may have very occasionally looked at other sites out of curiosity, but is extremely unlikely that I would add observations to. I may have years ago, but would have been rare. I find this site as regards the shipping side covers most things and if not a query will soon bring in answers. For most seafarers this site would cover the most ground as regards shipping in general, if technical and more in depth answers are required there are hundreds of books on various subjects which can be consulted. On here everyone talks at the same level and has nothing to prove to anyone, other sites seem to cater for different layers of society, here there is only one layer and that is what we all have In common, the sea. Most people who , join here are comfortable with the site, I think it unnecessary to drum up members, they either want to get involved or they don't. Cheers John Sabourn

Hi Ray C, I would have been one of those 47 guests this morning, I like to check what's on or if post's have been expanded on. I enjoy this site very much but often have little time so it is easier to look first before logging in, I respect your view about guests but what about the members signed up and don't get involved, or just write one post. I thik the numbers are quite high, not that I have done any survey on it.
