    Default Free Solar Panels.

You may have noticed on the front page of this site there is and advert for free solar panels.Has anybody on here applied for this and if so what is the deal?.I am always in the business of something for nothing so long as it is legit so I have just had a quick look through the advert. It states that you can reduce your electric bills by 25% and more,I've heard of deals where they use your house to set up these panels and they sell on the electric to the National Grid and give you cheaper electricity.I'l have a proper read through it tomorrow but in the mean time if anybody has taken up this deal I'd be interested in hearing about it.
    Regards.

No such thing as a free lunch Jim.

It really irks me the modern interpretation of the word FREE. What they probably are on about is that you pay them money to install and you may get it back over about ten plus years if you are lucky. I know that I grew up in the age of when something is free then you got it without having to exchange anything for it. Or not getting caught doing it.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

This is really part of the nonsensical carbon trading scheme here since Kyoto , the World carbon agreement . The energy generated from Solar ,the panels are only available if you have a good South facing roof though , that is strong enough to take the panels for twenty five years . The companies set up by the energy generators get a carbon reduction in costs. For every Kilowatt. Generated by you over and above the value of what is generated is a huge subsidy off the generators carbon tax , let us say that the value to you is 8p per unit ,the value in saved carbon tax is huge in comparison , In the twenty five years of the contract , the supplier has to recover the £8000 your installation costs and this is done easily , after twenty five years the panels are yours . It is a true system , but relies on carbon trading . So do you face South , if so put your prayer mat down , bow towards Bournemouth , thank the Kyoto agreement , take the savings ,and marvel that the carbon trading scheme is a load of row locks

We have them here in Oz and it is BIG business, but I got my six panels for FREE.

Just over three years ago the gov put an advert in th epaper saying that if your income position as a senior was below a certain level you could apply for free panels and instalation. A mate of mine told me about it but from his calculations we were above the income threshold to be eligable. But I decided to give it a go. Rang the company in Tasmania and the man told me my income was too high but he would send me the forms anyway. I completed them, sent them off and waited with baited breath. The forms went to Canberra and even though I was well over the income threshold was informed that I qualified. My forms were recieved just one week prior to the gov pulling the plug on the scheme due to cost blow outs.

Eight weeks later I recieved the voucher allowing for instalation which was completed just prior to Christmas that year. For excess power put back into the grid I recieve 66cents per KW hour. This was the case with all instalations until the gov decided that it was unfair to those who do not have them, so the rate was reduced to 10 cents. However I, along with many others, have a binding contract at 66 cents until the end of 2016.

Not sure how they would go in UK but here work very well if situated facing north west. Best time for maximum efficiency is Spring and autumn, winter not so good as sun is low in sky. Summer is good providing the air temp does not go above 38c, they shut down at that point to avid damage to panels.

We have houses here with as many as 18 panels on them and the cost can be recovered in about five years.
So now the choice is yours, I believe they are good value if you get the sunshine.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Highly regarded around my neck of the woods and mostly the owners are delighted. South or south west facing. We have nearby at Glastonbury, one of the biggest solar panel arrays in Europe and the owner, Michael Eaves, of festival fame is a happy bunny. However, "Free Solar" panels you do NOT get. Nothing is free!! That is sales hype and you need to read the small print VERY carefully.

The only thing free is cheese on a mouse trap, friends of mine have recently had them installed, his will take approx ten years to recoup his money laid out, and the binding deal that he is on has been withdrawn for newbies. However as he says, what will the price of electric be in 10years??. Certainly no point having them at my age KT

Nothing is for free!!! I can go along with that but we cannot be sceptical all of the time.I go on line to have a look at the main news in the Liverpool Echo. One day an advert across the top was advertising FREE combi boilers, supplied and fitted.I filled out the form on line,a phone call from them the next day followed by a visit and completed the paperwork.Start to finish boiler fitted within 2 weeks of application completely free.I qualified because I am in receipt of £1.69p per week along with my pension. The £1.69p is Savings Credit how its worked out I don't know,I don't get any other benefits and dentistry and optical treatment have to be paid for by me.I ticked off the electrician that did the wiring up,I said to him I believe that these are a very good boiler, his reply yes there alright for nothing aren't they.Nothing said I,well me and my wife have worked all our lives so it's now pay back time.So yes some thing are for free and I will follow up the solar panels to see what its all about.

My Combi boiler is over 12 years old, needs a new one. One of these heating and insulation companies called on me and said I could have a Free boiler. great.
Then he said are you on benefits , I said no, So he says No you cannot have one. it is only for people on benefits or Pension credit, I dont know what a Pension credit is, He said well if you dont know then you are not entitled to it.
Now a mate of mine, he always earned good wages , but he spent it as fast as it came in, smokes drinks four foreign holidays a year, never invested in a pansion scheme, so he gets benefits in his retirement, he is getting one. I worked for 52 years paying taxes and NI and still paying taxes on my pension,
and someone on benefit gets a free boiler and I cant. The man told me about the house at the top of my avenue, five immigrants all on benefits are getting free cavity wall and loft insulation and a new gas boiler.
Whats all that about? I work and pay and they get the freebies.
    Cheers
    Brian.
