Hi shipmates, do you want the latest in technology on the Sub, or a pice of worthless junk? that can be sunk by a boffin on a lap-top. You pays your money and you get a proper sub, with a few years of service life. for few billion more? I would not buy one. but spend the money on Hospitals and ex merchant seamans welfare.

Supplied goods to the M O D when I had my own company, they are very late payers, so you have to inflate your prices to cover the cost of financing the M o D, if they got their payment systems together and paid within 15/30 days instead of 9/12 months they could purchase more with the same money. But as everything has to go through various departments to get numerous signatures so that no one person is to blame if something goes wrong, then suppliers 'have' to inflate prices to cover loans they need to pay their own staff. I doubt anything much has changed and I suspect it's even a longer process now.

I found no financial benefit being on their approved contractors list, probably if you were dealing in multi million pound projects it may be different, as the Banks are not going to let you down when you have a large Government project in hand.

The MoD themselves seem to have appointed main contractors to organise everything , and the main contractors are employing the same numpty that did the job as the MoD , They make a great show of everything being transparent , but I after a recent experience have my doubts , It is not worth the pain of dealing with them , so they get left with contractors who charge them for the privilege of dealing with them .

Did you know that right through the cold war period, Most NATO Countries warships had very limited compatibility with each other example, The French Navy, and the Royal Navy used completely different fire hose fittings on deck and, In the event of fire helping each other out theres were useless aboard our ships and visa versa, It wasn't only France, A lot of U.S. Vessels had little or no compatibility with the rest of European warships. Seen even today as the most powerful defence against Russia and world peace. There is a lot of joined up writing that has not been put into place. Regards lads Terry.

Not only UK has a depratment of stupidity, we have them here as well. New warship, hull built in Spain and brought out here on a barge to be completed. Then the feral gov tells us they may have to close the only shipyard we have here in Melbourne as there is not enough demand for new ships.?????????

The Labour government did not want to upset the unions so they used three shipyards to share the work , funny I think one of them is in Gordon Brown's constituency , this is not reality it is Politics , The ned for four trident subs ws explained to me by an ex-Royal Navy man , as one is at sea , one is going out , one is coming in , and the other one is either on refit or broken down .

In regards gov't contracts it has ever been so. Once experienced as small to medium biz you stay away. In Oz at end of financial year they, all dept's, go out & spend whatever they have not in last years budget as if they don't they get what they saved deducted from new years budget, they just buy anything to get rid of it how NUTS is that? Has anyone ever come across a civil servant who has any concept of responsible management or budgeting? Never it is a bottomless pit for them 'why worry always more where that came from.' My father used to say it was a government plot to employ the unemployable.
