How old should they be
Two developmenst here in Oz today.
The first concerns the level of obesity amongst the younger generation. Those who do no exercise because running around the school yard has been banned. Playing some sports at school also banned in case they are injured. So they sit bemused before a monitor screen indulging in so many aspects of life that only compund the obesity problem.
But wait, there is a solution. Put a fat tax on 'Junk food'.
Not a good term to use as a spokes person for The Golden Arches stated, you call it junk food and you will become court fodder as we sue the rear end off you. All the ingredients are fresh and pure. Eaten in moderation will do no harm. So now maybe a fat tax on take away food/fast food. But wait cries a voice from the gutter. Many of the lower paid rely on fast food for their daily sustanance, tax it and they may starve, they may also loose weight. But where do you draw the line on such a proposal.
Second, raise the drinking in public age to 21. This will stop all the binge drinking taking place on Saturday night. They can still get wasted at home and end up in hospital but will not be out on the streets doing so. How naive are some people?
But then to their rescue comes the PC brigade. You cannot do that. At 18 they can vote, we can send them to a theater of war and have them expunged, allow them to drive. But not to drink?
I guess back to the drawing board once again.

Fat kids who will not last with heatlh issues
Hi shipmates, Hi happy john in oz, What is happening in oz? Are you are copying the U.K/ U.S.A. with overweight children/ only eating junk / fast food we have them on nearly every street corner, and under-age drinking very easy to buy alcohol everywhere is now the normal way of life here, and drugs for many children in all the main towns and Citys . I thought that Aussie children were into sport and more sport and studying hard for exams, with a B.B.Q. with the family on the weekend. Sounds like the rot has started in Aussie!!!

t used to be just Americans that were obese ,I guess its widespread now , most of us born before the war seem o be pretty normal ,as we had no fast food , and little of what we did have .now when we go shopping it seems like we are the ones that are not normal as most of the people that we see are obese ,or very close .in victorian times iyou were considered rich if you were fat , so it looks like there are a lot of rich people out there .

Parents of obese children should be Prosecuted for Child Cruelty.
They will end up with Diabetes, and life shortening diseases, if that is not cruelty then I dont what is.

You better believe it mate, junk/fast food is the fastest growing section of the hospitality industry.
