    Default VOTE FOR ME!!

You may have heard through UK media about the goings on surrounding our Prime Minister, a lady who thinks she is a bit special. However in a previous life in the university system there was a barister i knew who had dealings with her, she is not what she claims to be.

It got me to thinking about the Westminister system of goverance.

When our forefathers set up the system it was to be , by the people, of the peole , for the people.

Somehow over the decades something has gone awray in a big way.

Most governments cannot distinguish between their role and that of business, they make the rules under which business should work so for them to also be in business is a conflict of interest. Business of any sort be it a utility such as gas, or a corporation such as an airline that is for business to run, not the government.

But by the people, yes but only a selected few, many of whom do not represent the people.

Not sure about UK now but here if you want to get into power with Labor then being a trade union rep is a good start, and for the Liberals maybe a lawyer or such. Very few with business background make it.

But then we get the spin, the terminilogical inexactitudes, the promises and the way ahead.
It is not a case anymore of what we want but rather a case of 'we know what is best for you'. Well not to put too fine apoint on it they have no idea what is good for us. When they say what is best for you they really mean what is in it for them.
We are doing this for the betterment of the country LOL. That is the biggest crock of tish ever dished up.
The wheeling ,dealing and back stabbing within government maks e some crooks look like angels.
I have come to the conclusion that all political parties are the same, it is all about them, not us the voters.
They claim to represent us, but as we know most will not even answer the simplest of letters.
For me now all governmenst should be abolished to be replaced with administrators who will run the country as a business, maybe then they would be able to balance the budget, look after those most in need, restict entry into the country, forget about going to war, and most of all do what is best for us, the owners of the country.
    End of rant for today.
Bedroom tax, what next, front door tax?????
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

John, I'm afraid it will never happen, getting a real businessmen into Parliament. We tried it over here with Alan Sugar (Lord Sugar), although I personally cannot stand him, his business acumen leaves little room for doubt, but even he packed his hand in, as he said he had never met so many brick walls in trying to get something done, or get someone to see sense. I know where he is coming from, when I started my own business some 26 years ago, Bank 'Business Managers' gave me certain advice on how to conduct my business when I applied for a safety net overdrawn facility (which I never ever used) had I listened to these so called experts who had never run a business I would not have lasted a year. Some of these so called experts ended up on the dole, or as handymen when they were made redundant, I cannot recall one ever using his own advice and setting up a company and their life style and cars soon changed when their cheap bank mortgages came to an end. These modern day politicians may have more degrees than confetti at a wedding but as for running the country as a business, no hope as long as they've got an hole in their a*se

    Default Vote For Me

I cannot argue against what you say John. Our parliament is a disgrace and an embarrassment. I have long held the view that state governments and councils should be stripped down to an administrative role for a central government, such government to be administrated only by those whose curriculum vitae demonstrates that the candidate is worthy of the responsibility of the position held in the country's biggest business. Voting should not be compulsory nor should votes be carried over to preferences.

Having lived and run business for 12 years over a period of 20 years in Singapore I watched that island state progress from a British garrison to one of the worlds most successful republics. To sum it up, I would tell about a breakfast meeting in Singapore hosted by the Australian High Commission on the visit of the then Prime Minister Bob Hawke who had the floor to speak. All around were Australian business people squirming with embarrassment and one asked of his Singaporean table neighbour would they swap the speaker for his prime minister. The response was somewhat negative.

They are digging whopping great holes in the land to mine our minerals to sell overseas but I think if the status quo continues it will not be the miners knocking out the plug but rather the politicians screaming at each other as the country sinks below the waves. But....... most of us old bu**ers could be swanning around in our afterlife.

Keep digging there Fred-we've only had four King Willies so far. (The future Prince William -Duke of Cambridge-Charles'son- will eventually be William the Fifth !)

you can never get a man who has not gone hungry cold and tiered from doing a hard days work to be able to tell millionairs how to run things they think they are are betters its a class thing with them. if you want to get far in government you have to be a good conman scam artist how many of us has actually met his member of parliament other than the times they want your vote? its a true saying the only honest man to go into the houses of parliament was guy fowlkes. do they really think they are dealing with idiots{us} the people who put them in the jobs they conned us in a big way not for the first time every time. we vote to try and make a difference but the system they think is better for us isn't working. its a classic them and us.jp

Good to see that you have finally arrived in the real world of politics John concerning out bloody lot in Oz. Just the other night really summed it up on QA. Barnby Joyce thought he would be smart and asked the audience for a show of hands if they where willing to pay more tax to fund essential services and sat back with a smug look on his gob. Should have seen the reaction when most put their hands up. They are so out of touch that it is not funny but then we have the government that we deserve do we not. Another interesting point was highlighted in the local paper. When you see them expressing their concerns over the amount of people drowning trying to get here and how worried they are. Why was they not worried about the hundreds of thousands that where killed when they decided to go to war over a lie. Agree with the comment that we should do away with compulsary voting and preference sharing. Maybe then we would not end up with the major parties uniting to make sure that another party is not allowed to get into the trough. About the only time that they have a united front other than when deciding of raising allowances and perks for themselves.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.
