Not peculiar to Uk, same thing has been going on here in Oz for years. Main reason, it is cheaper to produce overseas and many of the big companies can see a dollar by buying up the companies and sending them off shore.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Hi Shipmates, The Iron Lady sold the famuly sliver many years ago, and all the factorys were shipped abroad to cheap wage countries , like our merchant navy and The coal mines closed down , So today we are owned by multi national big business companys and Mega rich people ,And most of the power and rules we live by come from the E.U. The U.K. is now only a outdated backwater the dumping ground for Europe .

British Businesses being shipped overseas was all sorted in the United Nations for the `NEW WORLD ORDER`. and then we signed up to the `LIMA AGREEMENT`,
Ask your MP what it is all about, I bet they dont even know, they are too absorbed in petty party politics.
Not too sure which Politician signed us up to it. This was in 1975.
This meant that we had to give our Industries to the Third world countries such as India and China.
The reason for China was.... If China was getting all our businesses then its massive population would be employed and earning money, that would keep them quiet and it would also prevent China going to war. So That is the price of peace. Not a lot of people know that.
It wasnt Maggie as PM, , that closed the mines and sold off the businesses it was the way of the world that we had to subscribe to. she was under orders, she did not come to power until 4 years after the AGREEMENT.
Britain is lying on top of an island of solid coal, but our biggest supplier of coal is now Russia followed by Poland. So that helps to keep the Russians quiet. So that is the way we now keep from having WW3.
But no one told the Islamics,
    Brian

    Louis,

I don't know where you get this from. The bottom line is we have to be competitive. Nostalgia and sentiments have no part in this.
