    Default US Shootings.

John interesting comment to which I sadly I concur. as I mentioned to my wife this morning, even if they could get some form of gun control in US how would they get all the guns back that are out there under control? Not possible I suggest? They did put as I recall some form of gun amnesty in place when that shocking rampage occurred in Tasmania, whether it worked or not I do not know? However Aus sure ain't nothing like the US in regards guns. In the US they, even normally rational people who we are friends with are, yes generalisation, gun crazy & that gun lobby is so wealthy it can crucify any Polly or other who tries to make rational changes to their inane law.

Even this or other sorts of mild comment will more than likely elicit some form of fruit loop defence from at least one US party on this site who is a died, ops poor choice of words, in the wool freedom for gun ownership including auto military weapons person. Has said in past when questioned as to their interesting attitude "US hunters hunt to put food on the table." Pigs nether regions, most of the guns from research are not in the country rather in the built up areas. All in all todays a shocking incident that just seems to keep on occuring & will not be limited until something strong is done but by who? Richard

A lot of the illegally held guns in the UK are guns not handed in at the last amnesty , that I think happened when hand guns were banned in 1997 .some are servicemen's souvenir ex Argentinian or Gulf wars , and there are still some World War 1 and World War II stuff lying around in the UK , I would suggest that the UK gun laws have just about the right balance now , what we need is a deterrent that says you commit a crime with a gun , then you will be jailed for ten years automatically whether it is an imitation , an air soft gun , an air rifle or the real thing , when you study the crime statistics for guns the biggest proportion is in the three major metropolitan centres in England , and one would suggest that these are part of the culture of Gangs so readily copied from the USA , to me gangs and drugs run hand in hand , and now Mr Clegg , the idiot that is called the deputy Prime Minister , is wanting to free drugs from legislation , the Portuguese whose model he wants to follow , don't seem to think it has been a success , who gains from the decriminalisation of these drugs , well , I will stand to be proven wrong but I thought the biggest Heroin growers are the Taliban in Afghanistan and the biggest cocaine growers the Columbian drugs barons , hey so we cannot beat , drugs crimes lets make it legal then there is no crime , what an insane piece of logic in my mind , that is like saying we cannot beat rape statistics , so if you want to shag the girl down the road get on with it . I wonder when these politicians will get a brain . I firmly believe that gun-crime in the UK = Gangs = Drugs

I also think that the tragedy in the USA would be avoided here as a twenty year old would not be allowed to hold the weapons unsupervised , and I think his Autism would have caused a Doctor to be suspicious in giving his approval to the police for the issue of a licence

May those poor victims rest in peace , and their families get some peace from their heartbreaks , and America wake up to avoid any repetition of this sickening event

is it true that in the states you can buy a gun before you can buy a drink{21}we had a law passed that licensed gun owners had their weapons confiscated yet gun crime has rocketed in this country it dos not even make the papers anymore a shooting time for a mandatory 10 years not half that 10 years for a gun crime.

An American reporter on TV this morning said there are 300,000,000 guns of all types in the USA.
So how can you ban guns there.?

    Default gun controls

since being here in canada, 48 years, ihave been a gun owner of long guns, a shotgun and rifle. these are used for various types of hunting. I was at one time a registered owner of hand guns, used for target practice and employment. quite a few years ago the liberals brought in gun control after a murderous assault at a university. all long guns had to be registered, hand guns were already registered by and controled by the rcmp and had been for many years. implimentation and running this registry would cost a couple of million dollars, so we were told. in all, when it was scrapped (long guns) this year by the conservitives, the cost was exceeding a billion dollars and just targeting law abiding sport hunters and farmers. criminals do not register their weopons and their preferred choice is a handgun or semi/auto (uzi) type. of course these guns are mainly smuggled into canada from the usa." and as brian has said, can be rented out, returned, sterilized and reused." unfortunatly these sick individuals that kill innocent children and adults usally finish by taking their own lives rather than be held to account. deterrents, is there any at present. iwould like to see the word " concurrent" taken out of the law books and just have "consequetive" only and a mandetory 10-15 year sentence for any crime ivolving a gun, then add on to the original crime. these crimes, unfortunately are not going to go away, somewhere, sometime another upsetting occurrence is going to rip families and peoples lives apart..... I can only hope and pray that i am wrong.

    Default gun crime

In Liverpool there are regular shoot outs between various gangs, racial groups and crooks, with age no exception. Notwithstanding all the Police rhetoric, nothing ever changes!
