    Default The British Bobby

This thread go's back a short time ago but just reading some figures.John S said he thought that they were most probably the most honest in the world.Nearly 50 police officers in the Metropolitan Police were suspended over a three year period for corruption.49 officers were suspended with 15 cases proved 18 unproven and 16 ongoing.A total of 258 officers were suspended between 2009/2011,88 of the claims were proved and 33 officers were dismissed.Imagine whats going on in the whole of the UK.
    Regards.

I've nearly finished reading this book by James Morton--Gangland International. It covers organised crime in most major cities worldwide from the 1800s to late 1990s and its a real eye opener (to me) to the amount of corruption and cooperation between the Police and the various Gangs that are involved in every known crime. Some countries we have grown to expect it as their way of life, but others, I was supprised at how rife and widespread it was. It seems the higher their Rank the more corrupt these Cops became. John in Oz, I'm just on the chapters covering the Aussie East Coast and you've had your share of Bent Bobbies. At the start of the chapter it states "New South Wales, the best Police Force money can buy" So it seems that no matter were you live, there are bent bastards just waiting to screw you.

I once knew a young lady in the east end of London around 1953, when I working on the Thames with Everards, the area in those days were a lot of bomb sites.
She told me that every week she had to put a few pounds under some particular stones on one of the sites near the Pub or he would have her arrested for Soliciting etc.. So I guess that was Police corruption.

Correct there mate NSW has the distinction of having the most corrup cops in the nation. Here in Victoria we now have a special division looking into corruption in the force. It is said that a dozen or so top guys took early retirement when the the division came into being.
Queensland also said to have more than it's fair share of slightly bent cops. No doubt keeping the politicians company.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
