Lyrics.
Just having a few beers (putting it mildly)playing some music.Just played John Lennon's "Imagine" when you listen to the lyrics of that song if it came true what a better world it would be.Did the CIA get him bumped off? What lyrics do any of you like.

Jim I don't think the CIA had anything to do with John Lennons death. Mark Chapman (his assassin) travelled from Hawaii to mainland US and had already decided that John Lennon was his target. Lennon lived in the Dakota Building in New York and every morning he would go down to the deli on either 5th or 3rd to have a coffee, no bodyguard so he became an easy target. I am of the opinion that if Elvis would have been alive then his destination would have been Memphis. In Chapmans warped mind he wanted to as famous as the Rock stars so why not kill one and attain fame overnight - or notoriety. During the time I lived on the Isle of Man I got to know Cynthia Lennon quite well (she had a restaurant in Castletown for a while) and she told me about the time when John was killed. McCartney gave her no support at all as all the worlds press were outside her door wanting her views on Johns death. Even before this event she had no time for him.
Regards
John

Imagine:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace
You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one.

Whist I am a jazz and swing fan of the 40's & 50's and have a terrific CD compiled by my pal Roger Dyer, I do sympathize with that lyric.
The last funeral I went to was in an undertakers chapel and as we all filed out they played Neil Diamonds "Cracklin' Rosie, my friends favourite. That lifted the mood somewhat.
R 627168 On all the Seas of all the World
There passes to and fro
Where the Ghostly Iceberg Travels
Or the spicy trade winds blow
A gaudy piece of bunting,a royal ruddy rag
The blossom of the Ocean Lanes
