Hi All.
I also did just the one trip with G.S.N.C.aboard the m.v.Lapwing,as cabin boy.
Have strong memories of going ashore with the Cook/Steward and huge shopping
baskets to buy ships stores,If he had the chance he would only buy at Co-op Shops
because he got dividend points???

Hi Dave Served 5 months on the MV Greenfinch as Galley Boy sometimes met up with the MV Lapwing in Antwerp Don't ever remember going ashore for provisions though, mind its a very long time since 1958. I do remember going ashore and getting pie eyed on my first trip and the cook giving me a right old earfull the next morning when I turned to Eye Dave great times mate'

Joined Sheldrake at 9am as third engineer, chief called me in said I was too young to be a 3rd and made me a 4th. Left ship and company at 10 am. Must be a record on joining and leaving. Went down the road and joined Union Castle as a 3rd.
