Re: Just a warning to ALL
Had one years ago, apparently from a double glazing company, conversation ended with how many windows have you in the back of your house?
6 - And in the front ? - 8.
Have you any doors ? Answer: Of course, how do you think I get into the house ?
I just put down the phone.

Re: Just a warning to ALL
Victoria, from experience the only time the tax Office contacts any one is if they are after money.
Never heard of any giving money back.

Re: Just a warning to ALL
I just love to receive these scam phone calls - they give me hours of enjoyment as I string them along.
The best ones are those that tell me I have been in a car accident.
When they eventually ask me for the injuries sustained I tell them that I was killed.
You can then hear the cogs turning in their petty brains before they hang up!
My other trick is to put a howler on the line which deafens them.
Oh, what joy!!!!!

Re: Just a warning to ALL
#31... Reminds me one time anchored in the Bitter Lakes overnight. The mate maybe to save on man hours put me on As night watchman apart from the Bridge watchkeeper. Had the usual dhows and small craft coming alongside in the dark throwing their grapnels over the rails which I immediately threw off. However one I couldn’t throw off before the weight came on it, after shouting at the person or persons in the boat and getting screams of non compliance I looked around for the biggest shackle I could find and lugged it to the rail and dropped it on the boat , which immediately started taking water through the hole. The screams became shriller and the boat was last seen being paddled like mad towards the shore , whether they made it or not don’t know or care , I didn’t report it in case I got accused of wasting and destroying ships gear. Re: Just a warning to ALL
Hi John.
I was on watch in the lakes, two in the recreation room one walking around. I went up on the forecastle and heard a rustling noise, this Basward was feeding one of the mooring ropes over the side, I yelled to the mate on the bridge and the bloke did a dive over the side, I put a couple of turns around the bits and stopped the rope, I didn't mind them taking the rope but they didn't pay buckshees.

Re: Just a warning to ALL
We were going through the Canal and it was getting dark.
A Dhow came very close and the skipper Cpt North, was not happy about it, fearing they could attempt to come on board.
But we had a smart bosun, hot salt water from a fire hose is one of the best cleaning agents there is when you want to shift some crap away.
