    Default SS Dago Crew

I am researching on the SS Dago built by Caledon Shipbuilding and Co in Dundee 1902 for Wilson Line of Hull. She was lost by a Focke-wulf German bomber in March 15th 1942 off Peniche-Portugal and rests now a -55 m deep.

I would be very grateful on any information on the ships crew of 37 including 6 navy gunners.

    Best wishes

You would need a copy of her 1942 last Crew Agreements held at Kew under the ships Official No. 113645 held in file BT381/1754

See link for ordering and viewing options. Make sure you only request her last Crew Agreements before lost as they run from January to December of any given year.

Although no deaths occured during the loss of the SS Dago, it seems that one crew member died much later from injuries sustained in the attack as the man below is buried ashore with full war grave status from this ship.

FUGLOY, Fireman, OLE JACOB FRITZ, S.S. Dago 11 (London). Merchant Navy. 10th December 1945. Buried Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Byker & Heaton) Cemetery. Sec. 20. Grave 381.

    Thank you so much,

This was of great help. I just requested it to the National Archives.

I take this opportunity to ask you about where I can find the kind of info you send me on the Fireman. particularly that one?

The name of the man is OLE JACOB FRITZ FUGLOY?

    Best wishes
