Re: Masks (Covid)
Been on self feeders mostly foreign flag Cappy on the Hong Kong system and was the accepted practice of delving in to the food money handed to each department every month in cash. It was part of the wages system. The chief steward only received the cash for the officers . The stewards pocketed theirs and fed off the saloon. The no. 1 fireman received the E.R. And the bosun the deck crew
How well they fed or drank was up to them . There were 3 galleys on board . Cheers JS

Re: Masks (Covid)
I tested + for covid six days ago. A day of high temps, then a rattling cough. Two of us in are the house, but my good lady is still free of it. I've an oxygen meter which says I'm ok. But heart rate is up and down.

Thanks, Tony. Feel weak, but am still writing memoir - not much else to do - trying not to infect the beloved - meanwhile, the food just gets better. I see you are just up the road from me (near Whitby) but as a lad I was even closer to you - Hartlepool headland. Fisherfolk right back to the first Queen Elizabeth.
There is an odd tale in this village, of an ancient hermit of Sleights, who settled here for solitude. But the place become so prosperous and busy he moved up to Chester le Street to find a bit of peace.

ha ha Harry, he wouldn't find it these days, Chester main street can be as rough as Hartlepool was in 60's

Re: Masks (Covid)
Some 46 million RAT kits are to arrive over the next couple of weeks.
Already some being sold in Pharmacies and Supermarkets.
Powers that be are to investigate some who are charging up to $40 each test.
When they arrive seniors will get them free as will workers in critical care situations.
But there is a problem with the normal testing, last week about 100,000 chucked as they had past the date for processing.
Great, you queue for six hours to get the test, hide away for 7 days and still have no answer.
State gov says it is from lack of staff due to virus!!!!!!!

Re: Masks (Covid)
Now pray tell me besides getting results from the Rat Test Kits (Many that really dont need the test) how on Earth are they going to Police this stupid System. They say $1000 fine for those not reporting their Tests if Positive. OK so how on EARTH are they going to know! If you can But these from Supermarkets and wherever. This i the silliest thing i have seen. Only way is to keep a Log of who purchases Test Packs from wherever, then Two things, one they will know who has bought and Second it will stop these silly Idiots who are just Buying them for no reason at all! This whole RAT Testing is all Rat S---- to me! Ok there are those that are using them correctly and purchasing them for a good purpose, but the Figures shown are no where near the amounts of RAT Test Kits that are going out to the Public!
Come on lets have some sort of normality here!
To me it will now only possibly be us Pensioners who will be getting them Free that will have to give Details , as there is a Limit of 10 over Three Months , now say for instance my small Family just Irene and Me. We certainly wont need 10 over that time ! ???
And all the other Unemployed are they to get them free as well, or at a very reduced rate anyway! How many Thousands will be flocking to grab these Kits for no apparent reason!
Its all a bloody shambles!!

Re: Masks (Covid)
I agree Vernon, kit will be impossible to police them.
How may will do the test and say nothing even if positive.
Have heard from a medico that there are major problems with them.
You must read the result no later than 15 minutes after using, some are going up to 30 minutes which gives a false report.
Think gov has learned from UK, they are free there but the public went on a feeding frenzy getting them
My brother in law in London offered to send us 10 as he tells me he has about 40 at home, but so far never used one!!

Re: Masks (Covid)
My take on this now is i feel that why must one do a Test anyway, surely if you feel unwell the Doctor is the best bet, at least that way one can be sure of the outcome, and it saves a lot of hassle . As yet we have had no reason to obtain any Kits, and hope that it will stay that way. We are off for our Boosters on the 28th of January here Local ! So that again should keep these two little Vegemites away and clear! LOL
