Re: Cruise's From Liverpool 2016.
Jim I read the article and visualized all the places they were going to. I'm sure the passengers will enjoy their time as sea and the locations they will be taken to, then I think of the cost, nowadays I wouldnt be able to afford the prices they have to pay, but then, when we were in our teens I bet we went to all those faraway place they will visit and a lot lot more beside that they never will, the difference is that we got paid for doing it.

Re: Cruise's From Liverpool 2016.
Vic, no I'm not thinking of a cruise and my wife certainly has no interest in going on one.
John talking of the price of cruising.I knew a guy that did a cruise every year sometimes in the top class cabins which he paid well below the going price for. What he did was wait until very near the departure date to make a booking, often getting a berth for him and his wife for less than half price.

Re: Cruise's From Liverpool 2016.
The way I do it is, ......
this time we go on Sunday, we are away for two months. so I and HER will have two months pension each in the bank. We will save two months gas and electricity, [winter months when they are high,] and water. Two months Grocery Bills, two months of petrol saved by not driving the car,
add all that up and as most people have a summer holiday for a couple of weeks, throw that in as well, and the cruise hardly costs anything at all. and I get to go to all the places around the world.
I am away from the cold and wet, for two months.
I will be nice and warm, a bit of bronzy,
I will be partying in Tahiti with all my Tahitian friends in three weeks today, Be seeing Vernon in Sydney, seeing my relatives in Wollongong, maybe see Dedeh Suardi my beautiful Javanese girl in Tanjong Priok. Tho` she will be 80 years old now so I don't think I will bother with that, on second thoughts..
We sail from Fort Lauderdale to Costa Rica, through Panama Canal, stay in Panama City and then cross the Pacific to the Marquesses, Rangiroa, Tahiti, Moorea, Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, Waitangi, Bay of Islands, Auckland, Picton NZ,
Melbourne, Sydney, Mooloolaba, Qld, Hamilton Island , Sherrard Island on the Barrier Reef, Cairns, Darwin, Bali, Semarang and Tanjong Priok in Java and then two days in Hong Kong and then fly home 4th March.
`So there is nowt wrong with that, away from a cold winter, and doesn't cost much.
Cruising that way is in most people reach.
This is on the AMSTERDAM, of Holland America, nice small comfortable ships.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Cruise's From Liverpool 2016.
Enjoy your trip Brian, i have just got back from Cuba, 34 deg over Xmas, makes a nice change. what amazed me was an American who was trying to change a 10 dollar bill for 1 dollars for tips, he could not get his head round the fact that they would not deal with yankee dollaars, even in the bank they have a 10% tax on them. I told him it was because of the embargo that the USA had on Cuba for the past 54 years , he had no idea of what i was talking about. A friend of mine has just returned from a 24 night cruise, Southampton to the Caribean, back to Southampton, just under a thousand pound each, good value, but afraid cruising is not for myself or the wife. Re: Cruise's From Liverpool 2016.
Thank you gentlemen for those kind comments, I am going to meet Vernon again in Sydney. Thursday 11 February. on Circular Quay at 10 to 10.30..am.
Hi KT
Yes I have always found that the average American is so naïve on world affairs, they do not know anything beyond their own backyard. I meet a lot of them on the cruises, but also very nice people.
Cheers
Brian
