There were many an odd one on most liners, but the best were the ones on the Cape mail run who travelled as Kosher so they got extra good food in the dinning saloon, then in their cabins would order bacon sandwiches.

Each night the cabin steward will come in to turn the bed down and palce a chocolate on your pillow. It is wise to check for this before turning in, fail to do so and you may well awaken with a brown face.
They also like to put apoint on the end of the toilet paper, maybe to give it direction. For three days having used the paper i put a point on it just to confuse him. On the third night instead of chocolate he left me a Prune!

I sailed on QE2 many many times, trans At, to the Cape and on four world cruises, Lovely ship. always had the same passengers on board every world cruise so just like going home every time we joined, lots of friends. I got to know the various Captains and that opened doors to various exclusive cocktail parties with many well known people. TV Movie stars, Famous billionairs, Politicians and Statesmen and so on..
Good to observe them with their guards down. So different than in public.
On the final world cruise in 2008 we did 40 knots from Osaka to Honolulu, fantastic for a ship so old.
    .
Odd passengers, on this last trip on the AMSTERDAM HAL.there was a Russian priest of some sort, no one knew what kind, He had a long beard, Long Hair, and a long cloak, that is all he wore with just a pair of underpants underneath, sometimes he took off his cloak.. He always had a glass of plnk in his hand from morning until night.
He said he was married with Eight children and lived in a forest outside Moscow.
We met him in Lima and wanted his photo taken so I took it. We thought he was harmless a first but the guy was a Bum
He was going into the shops in Lima and saying he was the Priest and they should give him money. and gifts. The Peruvians and Equadorians and Csta Ricans were all good Catholics so they gave to him, He had a big stack of T-Shirts and a pile of money, He would ask Passengers for money or they would burn in hell. He was captured on film taking money off a passenger.
The woman in the next cabin to him complained about the smell, in 25 days his cabin had never been cleaned, he always had a Do Not disturb sign on his door so the Steward never went in. The Captain with the Purser went in and it was so filthy and disgusting they had to have a Special Cleaning Squad to go in there to cleans and fumigate, They wore all white suits and face masks and protection.
He was supposed to do the whole world cruise from Fort Lauderdale all round to Fort Lauderdale , four months.
The Captain had him thrown off in Sydney to make his own way home. I saw him a couple of days after the ship had sailed from Sydney he was on Circular Quay, I kept out of his way.
Here is a photo of him with Anne..

I enjoy holidays on CRUISE SHIPS. There are lots of things to keep you occupied on long sea voyages or as little as possible just relaxing.
There are shows in the theatre, Computer classes and Photographic classes to learn all about those things, There are lectures on many subjects and places,
there are Art classes, I do art, I paint pictures and have done when I was Seafaring, usually ships.
    .
I went to enroll for the Art class, They asked me "What do you paint"?

I said , "I enjoy painting ships being an old Seafaring man".
    .
A voice behind me said, "Just the man we are looking for."
    .
I turned around and there was the Bosun, So here I am painting ships...................

I got a bollocking off the Safety man for being on the Jetty without a, `work vest`, lifejacket.
The jetty was full of passengers but only crew men can fall in.
I enjoyed it anyway, it felt good to be able to turn the clock back. the other passengers wanted to know why I was doing it. I told them I could not pay my Bar Bill so I was working it off.
A lot of them actually believed it.
    Cheers
    Brian.
