Crosed the Bar
This obituary appeared in my local news-paper today.
Stephen Raymond Davies passed away peacefully on June 9th. at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest. He was 81.
He left school at 16 to take an apprenticeship in Fishguard Harbour, later going on to life as a sea-farer.
he joined the 'WILLOWBANK' in 1952 as 5th. engineer, spending several years in the Pacific Islands and Australia.
He returned to work with G.W.R. and then joined Sealink as a chief engineer sailing out of Fishguard for 30 years.
Although I dont know of this gentleman, I have seen the name 'WILLOWBANK' on several occasions on this site,
and I wondered did any of our members sail with him.
I have the full obituary if any-one should require it
Regards to all,
Colin

"Requiem"
"Requiem"
Under the wide and starry sky,
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.
This be the verse you grave for me:
Here he lies where he longed to be;
Home is the sailor, home from sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.
Robert Louis Stevenson
