    Former WWII Merchant Seaman Michael O'Dwyer, the last survivor to give evidence at the war crimes trials against Irish Merchant Seamen during WWII crossed the bar.

    Default Irish Sailors

    What a sad story, pity he couldn't get the justice or recognition he so deserved. So many Irishmen from Eire served in our Merchant Navy and British armed forces, my own father born in Galway served in the Army volunteering the day war broke out and rejoined the MN two years later, when he was asked to do so, as we had lost so many experienced MN personnel.
