Re: Norman Moat
Russ
I sailed with a Capt. Moat from the Whitley Bay area in the Canadian Pacific
There was also an Eric? Moat, again from the same area, who was a lecturer at Shields College on the 70/80's.
Any relation to your pal Norman Moat?

Re: Norman Moat
Hi John,
Not that I know of. I know here are quite a few Moats in the Newcastle area but not sure if they are relations of Norman. He was an only child. His father had a haulage business. Norman served his time at Vickers. Was the same age as me.....coming up to 75.
Regards

Re: Norman Moat
Russ
Cheers for that, thought it would be a long shot but had to ask.
Alan Moat was the Captain in C.P. and I seem to recall that after leaving the sea he ran a Post Office in N. Shields.
Eric Moat the Lecturer at Shields was a bit of a character and had a tendency of using very non PC phrases during his lectures, especially when the influx of Middle Eastern and African students started to appear at Shields college.
