I joined trhe above ship in Glasgow DOCKS November 1955?
During my first stint as a fiver/ Jnr Engineer heading to discharge cargo along the cape coast, Iwas relieved on watch by the Chief Engineer, to report to the bridge ASAP? on arriving at the bridge I find that the Captain surported by his dack officers has moved to the Fly Bridge waving a rusty Revolver at the deck hands that was complaining about the Grub? some had thrown missiles at the Bridge? It was at this point Irealised why I had been sent up top, being over six foot tall weighing some sixteen stone at the time? If my presence helped to calme the problem I am not sure, or possibly the Captains Revolver, but with a promise of an improvement in the Food,all became normal?
Question:- can any one remember this event, plus I may have a few more stories to tell.
